The Yankton Fury 18s beat the Sioux Falls Cyclones 6-4 in the championship of the 18-under division at the Yankton Girls’ Softball Association Invitational, which concluded on Sunday at Yankton’s Sertoma Park.

Faith Sparks had two doubles, two runs scored and a RBI for Yankton. Elsie Marquardt, Makayla Kelley and Peyton Senger each doubled and singled, with Marquardt driving in two runs, Senger driving in one, and Marquardt and Kelley each scoring a run. Tori Herrboldt doubled, and Olivia Larson singled and scored in the win.

Hannah Thompson went 3-3 with a home run and three RBI for the Cyclones. Avery Wittry went 2-3 with a double. Grace Behrns also had two hits. Kendall Kniffen, Peyton Hellwig and Jenna Krouse each had a hit in the effort.

Herrboldt went the distance in the win, striking out nine in the six-inning contest. Kira Mentele took the loss, striking out six.

Yankton takes on Norfolk Kelly’s on Thursday.

Fury 18s 2, Vermillion Blast 1

Faith Sparks had a double, a single, a RBI and a run scored to lead the Yankton Fury 18s past the Vermillion Blast 2-1 in the semifinals on Sunday.

Elsie Marquardt had a double and a RBI, and Makayla Kelley had a hit and a run scored for Yankton. Payton Senger and Kayli Jelsma each had a hit in the win.

Tori Herrboldt picked up the win.

S.F. Cyclones 5, Parkston 4

The Sioux Falls Cyclones took control with a four-run third inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over Parkston in the semifinals on Sunday.

Brynn Weber went 3-3 with two doubles, and Peyton Hellwig doubled and singled for Sioux Falls. Hannah Thompson also had two hits. Grace Behrns and Kira Mentele each had a hit in the win.

Tiah Holzbauer doubled for Parkston. Baylee Schoenfelder and C.C. Neugebauer each had a hit.

Mentele picked up the win, striking out six in 4 1/3 innings. Maci DeGeest took the loss.

Fury 18s 4, Blast 0

Tori Herrboldt struck out eight in a shutout as the Yankton Fury 18s blanked the Vermillion Blast 4-0 in pool play on Saturday.

Haley linke had two hits, a RBI and a run scored for Yankton. Larkyn Mason and Herrboldt each had a hit and a run scored. Olivia Larson and Kayli Jelsma each had a hit. Makayla Kelley had a RBI and a run scored in the win.

Parkston 10, Columbus Fire & Ice 1

Parkston pounded out 10 hits in a 10-1 victory over Columbus Fire & Ice to open bracket action on Sunday.

C.C. Neugebauer had two hits for Parkston. Lindsey Roth had a double and two RBI. Maci DeGeest and Haley Lande each had a hit and two RBI. Allison Ziebart, Tiah Holzbauer, Jo Boettcher, Baylee Schoenfelder and Taylor Thuringer each had a hit in the win.

Holzbauer picked up the win, scattering five hits in the six-inning contest.

Parkston 4, Fury 18s 2

Parkston scored four runs in the first inning and held on for a 4-2 victory over the Yankton Fury 18s in pool play on Saturday.

Emilea Cimpl had the lone Parkston hit.

Johanna Jelsma and Tori Herrboldt each had a hit and a run scored for Yankton. Olivia Larson also had a hit.

Tiah Holzbauer picked up the win, striking out two. Makayla Kelley took the loss, striking out one. Herrboldt struck out one in relief.

Blast 11, Parkston 4

Vermillion scored in each of four innings to claim an 11-4 victory over Parkston in pool play on Saturday.

C.C. Neugebauer and Sadie Lindeman each had two hits for Parkston, with Neugebauer driving in two runs. Allison Ziebart, Emilea Cimpl, Taylor Thuringer and Lindsey Roth each had a hit in the effort.

Holzbauer took the loss.

Fury 18s 5, Elk Point-Jefferson 4

Elsie Marquardt had three hits and three RBI to lead the Yankton Fury 18s past Elk Point-Jefferson 5-4 in pool play on Saturday.

Johanna Jelsma had two hits and a run scored, and Tori Herrboldt had a double and a run scored for Yankton. Faith Sparks had a hit, two runs scored and a RBI. Makayla Kelley had a hit and a RBI, Olivia Larson had a hit and a run scored, and Kayli Jelsma had a hit in the win.

Kelley picked up the win, striking out nine. Herrboldt struck out two in relief for the save.

Cyclones 5, Parkston 1

The Sioux Falls Cyclones jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 5-1 victory over Parkston in pool play on Saturday.

Jordyn Blogg doubled and singled, and Jenna Krouse had two hits for Sioux Falls. Kylee Olson doubled. Hannah Thompson had a hit and two RBI. Kendall Kniffen, Peyton Hellwig and Kira Mentele each had a hit in the win.

Baylee Schoenfelder doubled for Parkston. Tiah Holzbauer, Tyalor Thuringer and Lindsey Roth each had a hit.

Grace Behrns picked up the win, striking out eight in the seven-inning contest. Holzbauer took the loss.

U16 Division

The Brandon Rage beat the Midwest United 3-2 for the 16-Under ‘Gold’ bracket title.

In the ‘Silver’ Bracket, the Yankton Fury 16s scored a 6-4 victory over the Sioux Falls Panthers Purple for the title.

U14 Division

The Yankton Fury Red pounded out 11 hits on the way to a 7-2 victory over the Wayne Dirt Devils in the ‘Gold’ bracket championship game on Sunday.

Brooklyn Townsend went 3-4 with three RBI to lead Yankton. Camryn Zoeller doubled and singled, scoring twice. Izzy Wintz also had two hits and two runs scored. Paige Hatch doubled, Olivia Girard had a hit and two RBI, and Annika Gordon and Hannah Sailer each had a hit in the win.

Bailey Sample went the distance in the six-inning contest, striking out eight, for the win.

Yankton Fury Red, 20-7, plays in the Watertown Tournament June 22-23.

In the ‘Silver’ bracket, Yankton Fury Black earned the title with a 13-6 victory over Norfolk Kelly’s.

Camryn Koletzky went 3-3 and Mikayla Humpal had two doubles and two RBI to lead Yankton. Payton Moser and Teighlor Karstens each had two hits, with Karstens driving in two runs. Emma Herrboldt had a home run and three RBI. Olivia Binde, Emma Eichacker, Lenae Wiersma and Chloe Vander Tuig each had a hit, with Vander Tuig driving in two runs, in the win.

Karstens picked up the win.

Fury Black, 16-14-1, travel to Mitchell for a doubleheader with the Aftershock today (Monday). Start time for the twinbill is 6 p.m.

Fury Red 4, TSC Lightning 2

The Yankton Fury Red advanced to the gold bracket final with a 4-2 victory over the TSC Lightning on Sunday.

All five of Yankton’s hits came consecutively in the fourth inning. Tori Vellek had a triple and two RBI, and Paige Hatch tripled for Yankton. Brooklyn Townsend, Hannah Sailer and Regan Garry each had a hit in the win.

Garry picked up the win, scattering nine hits and striking out five.

Fury Black 14, Columbus Fire & Ice 10

The Yankton Fury Black pounded out 17 hits to advance to the silver bracket final with a 14-10 victory over the Columbus Fire & Ice on Sunday.

Olivia Binde went 4-5 with four RBI, and Chloe Vander Tuig went 3-3 with a double for Yankton. Camryn Koletzky had three hits, three RBI and three runs scored. Lenae Wiersma went 2-2 with three runs scored. Mikayla Humpal also had two hits. Paytom Moser, Emma Eichacker and Caitlin Guenther each had a hit in the win.

Binde picked up the win in relief.

Fury Red 12, S.F. Thunderbirds 0

Yankton Fury Red made quick work of the Sioux Falls Thunderbirds, as Annika Gordon tossed a three-inning no-hitter and Yankton had 13 hits in a 12-0 victory in pool play on Saturday.

Paige Hatch and Gordon each went 2-2 with a triple, and Izzy Wintz and Hannah Sailer each doubled and singled for Yankton. Tori Vellek also tripled. Bailey Sample doubled. Brooklyn Townsend, Grace Brockberg and Olivia Girard each had a hit in the win.

Gordon struck out four in the win. The lone Sioux Falls baserunner reached on an error.

Fury Black 12, Fire & Ice 2

Olivia Binde went 3-3 with a triple to lead the Yankton Fury Black past the Columbus Fire & Ice 12-2 in pool play on Saturday.

Emma Eichacker doubled, and Payton Moser had a hit and two RBI for Yankton. Camryn Koletzky and Caitlin Guenther each had a hit in the win.

Guenther picked up the win.

Fury Red 9, Elk Point-Jefferson 4

Camryn Zoeller had two hits and two RBI as the Yankton Fury Red downed Elk Point-Jefferson 9-4 in pool play on Saturdya.

Annika Gordon tripled for Yankton. Brooklyn Townsend, Hannah Sailer, Paige Hatch, Grace Brockberg, Bailey Sample and Olivia Girard each had a hit in the win.

Sample struck out nine in the four-inning contest for the win.

Vermillion Flamez 4, Fury Black 3

The Vermillion Flamez edged past Yankton Fury Black 4-3 in pool play on Saturday.

Olivia Binde had two hits for Yankton. Payton Moser, Emma Eichacker, Lenae Wiersma and Chloe Vander Tuig each had a hit in the effort.

Binde took the loss, striking out five in the four-inning contest.

Fury Red 8, Norfolk Kelly’s 7

Camryn Zoeller’s RBI single completed a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth, helping Yankton Fury Red to an 8-7 over Norfolk Kelly’s in pool play on Saturdya.

Hannah Sailer had three hits and three RBI to lead Yankton. Regan Garry had two doubles and two RBI. Izzy Wintz went 2-2 with a double. Annika Gordon, Brooklyn Townsend, Tori Vellek, Grace Brockberg, Bailey Sample, Olivia Girard and Zoeller each had a hit in the win.

Sample pitched two innings of shutout relief, striking out four, for the win.

TSC Lightning 10, Fury Black 0

The TSC Lightning downed the Yankton Fury Black 10-0 in pool play on Saturday.

Payton Moser’s double was the lone Yankton hit.

Camryn Koletzky took the loss.

Wayne 14, Fury Black 4

The Wayne Dirt Devils pounded out 12 hits in a 14-4 victory over Yankton Fury Black in pool play on Saturday.

Emma Eichacker had a hit and two RBI for Yankton. Camryn Koletzky, Olivia Binde, Emma Herrbolct and Caitlin Guenther each had a hit in the effort.

Binde took the loss, striking out four in the three-inning contest.

U12 Division

The Brookings Outlaws beat the TSC Wildfire 4-3 for the ‘Gold’ championship in the U12 division on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, Norfolk Kelly’s outlasted the Yankton Fury Hornets 7-4 in the ‘Silver’ bracket championship.

Aubrie Lloyd, Madison Girard, Chayse Drotzmann and Quincy Gaskins each had a hit for Yankton.

Girard took the loss, striking out six in the contest.

Fury Hornets 9, R.C. Defenders 3

Tori Hansen held the Rapid City Defenders to two hits as the Yankton Fury Hornets earned a 9-3 victory in the silver bracket semifinals on Sunday.

Hansen, Mia Donner, McKenna Eide, Madison Girard and Chayse Drotzmann each had a hit for Yankton.

Hansen struck out one and walked one in the contest.

Fury Hornets 14, Dakota Valley 2

The Yankton Fury Hornets concluded pool play with a 14-2 victory over Dakota Valley on Saturday.

McKenna Eide doubled and singled, and Quincy Gaskins doubled for Yankton. Hailey Schulte, Addison Huber and Madison Girard each had a hit in the win.

Tori Hansen picked up the win, striking out one.

Vermillion Flamez 4, Fury Hornets 2

The Vermillion Flamez outlasted the Yankton Fury Hornets 4-2 in pool play on Saturday.

For Yankton, Quincy Gaskins doubled, and Taylor Hamburg and McKenna Eide each had a hit to lead the way.

Madison Girard took the loss, striking out eight.

Wayne 14, Fury Hornets 0

The Wayne Dirt Devils blanked the Yankton Fury Hornets 14-0 in pool play on Saturday.
