Cavaliers Lead 9AA Polls

Bon Homme players celebrate after beating Kimball-White Lake in the 2018 Class 9AA championship football game. The Cavaliers lead both the South Dakota Media and South Dakota Football Coaches Association polls after the first week of the 2019 season.

Bon Homme remained atop Class 9AA in the South Dakota Media and South Dakota Football Coaches Association polls this week, both announced Monday.

Also in Class 9AA, Viborg-Hurley was ranked second in the coaches’ poll and third in the media poll. Parker was fifth in the media poll, with Platte-Geddes getting a vote. Platte-Geddes also drew votes in the coaches’ poll.

The two polls continued to disagree about the top team in Class 9A, with Sully Buttes leading Canistota-Freeman in the media poll, and the Pride beating out the Chargers in the coaches’ poll.

Irene-Wakonda received votes in both polls in Class 9B. Alcester-Hudson also received votes in the coaches’ poll.

Polls in Class 11AAA, 11AA and 11A remained unchanged, as those teams do not start their season until this Friday.
