Harrisburg earned a pair of 1-0 victories over Yankton in girls’ softball action on Tuesday at Yankton’s Sertoma Park. The games marked the season opener for Yankton.
In the opener, Harrisburg used a bad-hop single in the fifth to scored the game’s only run.
Addi Binde, Jenna Cox, Faith Sparks and Annika Gordon each had a hit for Yankton, which outhit the Tigers 4-3.
Kylee Slocum picked up the win. Lexi Madson took the loss.
Harrisburg scored in the fourth inning of the nightcap.
Olivia Larson, Binde, Madson, Cox, Gordon and Lainie Keller each had a hit for Yankton.
Tevan Bryant picked up the win. Grace Behrns took the loss, allowing three hits and walking none.
Yankton travels to Brookings on Saturday to face Watertown and Brookings in a triangular.
JV: Yankton 5-7, O’Gorman 3-9
The Yankton Gazelles earned a doubleheader split against Sioux Falls O’Gorman in JV softball action on Tuesday at Yankton’s Sertoma Park.
Yankton scored all five of its runs in the first inning of a 5-3 victory in the opener.
Gracie Brockberg, Paige Hatch, Brooklyn Townsend and Chloe Vander Tuig each had a hit for Yankton, with Vander Tuig driving in two runs, for Yankton. Camryn Zoeller had a RBI and a run scored. Hatch also drove in a run. Bailey Sample, Hannah Sailer, Townsend and Olivia Girard each scored in the victory.
Sample picked up the win, striking out seven.
O’Gorman claimed the nightcap 9-7.
For Yankton, Sailer went 2-3 with a double and two RBI. Hailey Lande had a triple, a RBI and a run scored. Sample had a hit, a RBI and a run scored. Zoeller had a hit and a run scored. Townsend, Vander Tuig, Kloey Ballert and Kamelia Kopp each scored. Lucky Mason drove in a run in the effort.
Lande took the loss, with Sample striking out five in two innings of relief.
Yankton, 1-1, travels to Brookings to face Watertown on Saturday.
