ELK POINT — The Yankton Fury Black ended the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Elk Point-Jefferson in girls’ softball action on Wednesday.
In the opener, Yankton used a pair of five-run innings to claim a 12-3 victory.
Payton Moser went 2-2 with a double and two runs scored, and Olivia Binde had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored to lead Yankton. Hope Lesher had two hits and two runs scored. Emma Herrboldt tripled. Emma Eichacker had a double and two RBI. Lenae Wiersma added a hit in the victory.
Grace Schuh doubled and Danica Torrez singled for EPJ.
Teighlor Karstens picked up the win, striking out four in her four innings of work. Binde struck out three in two innings of shutout work.
Wiersma had two hits and two runs scored, and Karstens had a hit and four RBI as Yankton won the nightcap 16-7.
Binde and Herrboldt each had a hit and two RBI, with Binde scoring three runs. Camryn Koletzky had a hit and two RBI. Mikayla Humpa and Lesher each had a hit. Eichacker had three runs scored and two RBI in the win.
Torrez and Grace Griffin each had a hit for EPJ. Alyssa Chytka scored twice.
Koletzky picked up the win, striking out two in 2 1/3 innings of work.
The Fury Black (27-20-1) head to state today (Friday), facing the Rampage in a 9:30 a.m. contest at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls.
