SIOUX FALLS — East Grand Forks, North Dakota, scored in the top of the seventh to claim a 5-4 victory over the Yankton Juniors in the Sioux Falls baseball tournament on Sunday.

Matt Hein went 2-2 with a double for Yankton. Austin Wagner had two hits and two RBI. Trevor Fitzgerald also had two hits. Cameron Zahrbock and Kaden Luellman each had a hit in the effort.

Joe Gokie took the loss, striking out six in his six-plus innings of work.

Carpetland 9, Yankton Juniors 1

SIOUX FALLS — Carpetland used a seven-run second inning to pull past the Yankton American Legion Juniors squad in the Sioux Falls baseball tournament on Saturday.

Jayden Lightner, Kaden Luellman, Tony McGlone and Quentin Moser each had a hit for Yankton.

Lightner took the loss.

Dakota Valley 3, Sacred Heart-Maccray 2

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. — Hunter Beving’s second hit of the game plated the game-winning run as Dakota Valley downed Sacred Heart-Maccray 3-2 in the Montevideo American Legion baseball tournament on Sunday.

Drew Addison also had two hits for Dakota Valley. Samuel Otten doubled, and Jake Likness, Brenden Klasi, Jevin Kratz and Keaton Hensley each had a hit in the win.

Kratz pitched the distance in the contest, striking out 10, for the win.

Dakota Valley, 9-8, travels to Lennox on Tuesday.

Dakota Valley 4, Granite Falls 0

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. — Keaton Hensley tossed a six-hit shutout, striking out 10, as Dakota Valley blanked Granite Falls 4-0 in the Montevideo American Legion baseball tournament on Sunday.

Jake Likness and Jevin Kratz each had two hits for Dakota Valley. Brenden Klasi doubled. Samuel Otten and Ethan Redmond each had a hit in the win.

Hensley did not walk a batter in the complete game effort.

Bayport 5, Dakota Valley 1

MONTEVIDEO, Minn. — Bayport’s Danny Peterson and Carter Rogness combined on a four-hitter in a 5-1 victory over Dakota Valley in the Montevideo American Legion baseball tournament on Saturday.

Teige Letlert had a hit and two RBI for Bayport. Ryan Parratt, Sam Johnson and Severin Hegstad each had a hit in the win.

Keaton Hensley, Jevin Kratz, Jake Likness and Ethan Redmond each had a hit for Dakota Valley.

Peterson pitched 6 1/3 for the win. Rogness got the final two outs, striking out one. Drew Addison took the loss, with Likness striking out five in five innings of relief.

Tabor 14, Gregory 5

GREGORY — Tanner Van Driel went 4-6 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI to lead Tabor past Gregory 14-5 in American Legion baseball action on Sunday.

Zach Cuka went 3-3 for Tabor. Mace Merkwan and Christian Uecker each had two hits. Josh Crownover had a double and three RBI. Joey Slama added a hit and two RBI in the win.

Slama pitched four innings for the win. Van Driel struck out five in two innings of relief.

Tabor, 10-6, travels to Crofton, Nebraska, on Tuesday.

Hartington 7-3, Valentine 1-0

VALENTINE, Neb. — Hartington held Valentine to four hits in a doubleheader sweep in American Legion baseball action on Saturday.

In the opener, Turner Korth struck out 12 in a one-hitter as Hartington beat Valentine 7-1.

Brady Steffen had two hits and two RBI, and Riley Arens and Austin Arens each had two hits to lead the way. Chase Lammers, Ted Bengston, Carter Arens and Owen Heimes each had a hit in the win.

Korth allowed an unearned run and walked two in the victory. Jaden Owen took the loss, striking out four.

In the nightcap, Steffen struck out six in a five-inning three-hitter as Hartington won 3-0.

Dain Whitmire doubled and singled for Hartington (10-11). Lammers also had a double. Steffen and Lammers each had a hit in the win.

Tabor 13, Spearfish 7

WINNER — Tabor used an eight-run second inning to pull past Spearfish 13-7 in American Legion baseball action on Saturday in Winner.

Joey Slama went 3-5 with a triple and two RBI to lead Tabor’s 17-hit attack. Josh Schmidt went 3-5 with a double and two runs scored. Christian Uecker also had three hits. John Kubal, Mace Merkwan and Tanner Van Driel each doubled and singled. Trent Herrboldt and Carter Uecker each had a hit, with Uecker driving in three in the win.

Uecker struck out six batters over four innings for the win. Zach Cuka pitched the final three innings, striking out three, for the long-relief save.

Tabor 5, Winner-Colome 4

WINNER — Tabor scored four runs in the third inning on the way to a 5-4 victory over Winner-Colome in American Legion baseball action on Saturday in Winner.

Beau Rothschadl doubled and singled, driving in two, to lead Tabor. Josh Schmidt and Carter Uecker each had two hits. Tanner Van Drield doubled, adding two RBI and two runs scored. Trent Herrboldt added a hit in the win.

Mace Merkwan struck out nine in five innings of work for the win. Van Driel pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

Ponca 12, LCC 2

LAUREL, Neb. — Cole Richards homered and Ponca used an eight-run top of the fourth inning to cruise past Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 12-2 in five innings in American Legion action from Friday night in Laurel, Nebraska.

Brandon Kneifl and Michael Logue both doubled and singled for Ponca, while Carson Fox and Bubba Cabrales each scored twice.

Cabrales struck out five to get the win on the mound.

For LCC, Lucas Rassenssen tripled, Cody Babl doubled and Logan Hansen singled. Babl took the loss.

Ponca Juniors 12, LCC 10

LAUREL, Neb. — Ponca used a trio of three-run innings, including three in the seventh, to claim a 12-10 victory over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in American Legion Juniors baseball action on Friday.

Zach Fernau went 4-5 with a double, four runs scored and two RBI for Ponca. Adan Anderson went 2-4 with a triple. Grant Dorcey also doubled. Chase Phillips and Matt Logue each had a hit and two RBI. Caydon Phillips had a hit and three runs scored. Austin Brennan added a hit in the win.

Deagon Puppe went 3-4 with two RBI for LCC. Evan Haisch doubled and singled. Lucas Rasmussen, Danny Puppe and Wilton Roberts each had two hits. Dillon Olson and Kale Hartung each doubled in the effort.

Bryar Bennett went the distance in the win. Nolan Ohlrich took the loss, striking out eigth in 4 2/3 innings of relief.

Ponca travels to Arlington today (Monday).
