Vermillion took advantage of 10 walks to claim a 10-5 victory over Yankton in American Legion baseball action on Monday at Riverside Field at Bob Tereshinski Stadium.

Jack Kratz and Rylan Craig each had two hits for Vermillion. Jacob Chaussee doubled. Dylan Thelen, Sammy Ward and Willis Robertson each had a hit in the win.

For Yankton, Kieren Luellman doubled, and Collin Zahrbock had a hit and two RBI to lead the way. Rex Ryken, Ethan Wishon and Cole Withrow each had a hit. Owen Feser scored three times in the effort.

Dylan Thelen allowed five hits over 6 1/3 innings for the win, striking out four. Zahrbock took the loss in relief of Feser, who struck out five in 3 1/3 innings of work.

Vermillion, 6-8, hosts Ponca, Nebraska, on Wednesday. Yankton, 17-8, travels to Brandon Valley for a doubleheader on Wednesday.

S.F. West 8-10, Yankton Juniors 3-5

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls West claimed a pair of five-run victories over Yankton in American Legion Juniors baseball action on Monday.

In the opener, Gabe Stahl went 3-4 with a triple and a double in an 8-3 West victory. Five other players had two hits each for West.

Trevor Fitzgerald doubled for Yankton. Austin Wagner had a hit and two runs scored. Carson Haak and Quentin Moser each had a hit in the effort.

Mitchell West picked up the win, striking out 14 in his six innings of work. Joe Gokie took the loss.

Nate Slowey went 3-4 with two triples, and Jake Schaefer went 3-4 with a triple as West beat Yankton 10-5 in the nightcap.

Matt Winterton doubled and singled, driving in three, in the win.

Gokie had three hits for Yankton. Wagner doubled and singled, scoring twice. Matt Hein also had two hits. Fitzgerald, Haak and Jayden Lightner each had a hit in the effort.

Michael Zeman went the distance in the win. Bradley Howe took the loss, striking out five in his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Yankton, 9-13, travels to Harrisburg on Wednesday. Start time for the twinbill is 5 p.m.

Beresford 5, Hartington 4

HARTINGTON, Neb. — Beresford built a 5-2 lead and held on for a 5-4 victory over Beresford in American Legion Seniors baseball action on Monday.

Austin Arens doubled for Hartington. Brady Steffen, Seth Wiebelhaus, Dain Whitmire and Ted Bengston each had a hit in the effort.

Sam Feilmeier went the distance in the loss, striking out three and allowing two earned runs.

Hartington, 7-10, hosts Creighton today (Tuesday).
