MILLARD, Neb. — Millard held the Yankton Juniors to two hits in a 9-1 victory on the opening day of the Millard American Legion baseball tournament on Friday.
Joe Gokie had a double and a RBI for Yankton. Bradley Howe added a hit.
Jayden Lightner took the loss.
Yankton Lakers 11, S.F. West 3
MITCHELL — The Yankton Lakers used a pair of big innings to down Sioux Falls West in the Mitchell youth baseball tournament on Friday.
Mac Ryken went 3-4, and Rugby Ryken went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI for Yankton. Cooper Grotenhuis and Josh Sheldon each went 2-3 with a double, with Sheldon driving in three runs. Cody Oswald homered, driving in three. Jace McCorkell and Isaiah Schelhaas each had a hit in the win.
Rugby Ryken picked up the win.
Mitchell White 10, Yankton Grey Sox 2
Mitchell used a six- run first inning to take control for a 10-2 victory over the Yankton Grey Sox in the Mitchell youth baseball tournament on Friday.
John Rye doubled for Yankton. Wyatt Holmstrom and Kolter Feilmeier each had a hit.
Rayner Roig took the loss, striking out three in his three innings of work.
Yankton Lakers 13, Mitchell Black 2
Three different players had three hits each as the Yankton Lakers pounded Mitchell Black 13-2 in the Mitchell youth baseball tournament on Friday.
Garrett Nelson went 3-5 with a double, and Rugby Ryken and Cody Oswald each went 3-5 for Yankton. Luke Bernatow doubled and Jace McCorkell added a hit in the win.
Nelson picked up the win, striking out eight in the seven-inning contest.
Renner 10, Yankton Grey Sox 9
Renner outlasted the Yankton Grey Sox 10-9 in the Mitchell youth baseball tournament on Friday.
John Rye went 3-3 with a double and three RBI for Yankton. Keagan Holmstrom doubled and singled. Raynor Roig, Hunter Eggan, Chase Howe and Cruz Maldonado each had a hit for the Grey Sox.
Rye took the loss in relief.
West Pt-Beemer 17, Ponca Seniors 6
PONCA, Neb. — West Point-Beemer built a quick 5-0 lead and coasted to a 17-6 victory over Ponca in American Legion Seniors baseball action on Thursday.
Jared Minnick went 3-4 with a triple, a double and five runs scored for West Point-Beemer. Brendan Rief doubled and singled, driving in four. Greg Johnson also doubled and singled, and Peyton Landholm, Aaron Disher and Tate Ernesti each had two hits in the win.
Brandon Kneifl doubled and singled, driving in two, for Ponca. Gage McGill also had two hits. Hunter Volkert had a hit and two RBI, and Carson Fox, Cole Richards and Grant Dorcey each had a hit in the effort.
Mitchell Peatrowsky struck out seven in the win. Evan Anderson took the loss, striking out seven in his five innings of work.
Ponca, 3-3, travels to Elk Point-Jefferson on Monday.
West Pt-Beemer 11, Ponca Juniors 2
PONCA, Neb. — West Point-Beemer rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to beat Ponca 11-2 in American Legion Juniors baseball action on Thursday in Ponca, Nebraska.
Jaryn Smeal went 3-4 with a double for West Point-Beemer. Brendan Rief added two hits in the win.
Zach Fernau and Grant Dorcey each had two hits for Ponca, with Dorcey driving in two runs. Bryar Bennett and Austin Brennan each had a hit in the effort.
Reif went the distance in the win, striking out 10. Dorcey took the loss, striking out five in his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Ponca travels to Elk Point-Jefferson on Monday.
