CROFTON, Neb. — Hartington took control with a three-run fifth inning and staved off elimination with a 6-3 victory over Creighton in the Area C-1 Seniors American Legion Baseball Tournament on Monday in Crofton, Nebraska.

Thanks to Hartington’s win, three teams will advance to today’s (Tuesday) final round of action. Hartington and Neligh, a 10-4 winner over Atkinson earlier Monday, will face off at 5:30 p.m. Creighton, which was undefeated in the tournament prior to Monday, will await the winner in the 8 p.m. winner-take-all final.

Seth Wiebelhaus, a Mount Marty College baseball recruit, went 2-4 with a triple, a RBI and two runs scored for Hartington. Brady Steffen had a hit and two runs scored. Jacob Kaiser had a hit, a RBI and a run scored. Turner Korth singled, and Sam Feilmeier and Owen Heimes each drove in a run in the win.

J.D. Kuhlman had two doubles, a RBI and a run scored for Creighton. Connor Hammer had a hit and a run scored. Levi Stacken also scored in the effort.

Korth pitched 6 2/3 innings, striking out six, for the win. Sam Feilmeier got the final out by strikeout. Bryce Zimmerer took the loss, striking out six batters in his three innings of work.
