PONCA, Neb. — Carter Kingsbury made 9-of-14 shots for 28 points as Ponca defeated Hartington Cedar Catholic 59-50 in boys’ basketball action Tuesday night in Ponca, Nebraska.

Brandon Kneifl added 17 points for Ponca (12-2), while Cayden Phillips had nine points and seven rebounds.

No stats were reported for Cedar Catholic (9-5).

Ponca visits Wynot on Thursday and Cedar Catholic begins Mid-State Conference Tournament play next Tuesday.

NORFOLK, Neb. — The Lutheran High Northeast Eagles claimed a close 48-47 overtime victory over the Crofton Warriors on Tuesday night in Norfolk, Nebraska.

The Eagles were led by Cort McKeown with 12 points and four rebounds, while Jaxson Kant had 15 points.

For the Warriors, Payton Bartels finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Andy Knapp had six rebounds.

The Eagles will play again on Friday at St. Francis. Crofton, meanwhile, will travel to Pierce on Thursday.

PARKSTON — The Parkston Trojans dug themselves out of an early hole and edged Platte-Geddes 55-50 in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday night in Parkston.

Braden Bruening led Parkston with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Rylan Leischner had 11 points and six rebounds. Braydon Hurley added 10 points, Nathan Boettcher dished out seven assists, and Nate Doering contributed nine points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Platte-Geddes jumped out to a 19-8 lead after the first quarter.

For Platte-Geddes, Caden Foxley scored 13 points, Miles Hubers had nine points, and Kelby VanDerWerff and Will Miller both scored nine points.

WAKONDA — Kaden Pesicka led the Parker Pheasants to a 47-32 victory over the Irene-Wakonda Eagles on Tuesday night in Wakonda.

Pesicka finished with 18 points, while Cole Jurgens had 13 points. For the Eagles, Levi Larsen ended the night with 19 points and five rebounds, and teammate Jacob Jensen had nine rebounds.

The Eagles will play again next Monday in Irene against Freeman Academy/Marion. Parker, meanwhile, will play next Tuesday at Chester Area.

CENTERVILLE — Hunter Ellis had a big night with 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists as Centerville clipped Tripp-Delmont-Armour 60-53 in boys’ basketball action Tuesday night in Centerville.

Gavin Gibney added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Centerville (3-7), while Logan Bobzin scored seven points.

In the loss for TDA (5-5), Tristin Bialas scored 21 points, Carson Koehn had 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and Logan VanPelt added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Centerville hosts Viborg-Hurley on Thursday and TDA hosts Burke on Friday in Armour.

WAGNER — The Wagner Red Raiders snapped a six-game losing streak on Tuesday night when they defeated the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans by a score of 54-50 in Wagner.

Jaden Peters had 16 points and nine rebounds in the win for the Red Raiders, while Dustin Honomichl had 16 points and six rebounds. Toby Zephier would also have seven assists in the win.

For the Titans, Kolby Kayer finished with 15 points and Reed Rus had 10 points and nine rebounds. The Titans will play again on Friday against Winner in Plankinton. Wagner, meanwhile, will be at home against Scotland on Thursday.

FREEMAN — The McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars extended their winning streak to three games on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Freeman Flyers 63-49 in Freeman.

Koltan Lindstrom had 15 points and nine rebounds, while Gavin Gordon finished with 15 points and five rebounds for the Fighting Cougars.

For the Flyers, Micah Swensen had 22 points to go along with five rebounds while Bradey Kaufman scored 15 points. The Flyers will play again on Friday in Canton. The Fighting Cougars, meanwhile, will travel to Madison on Thursday.

ALEXANDRIA — The Hanson Beavers had a tough 60-50 victory over the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Blackhawks on Tuesday night in Alexandra.

Reggie Slaba led the Beavers with 22 points while teammate Riley Ferry had 17 points and nine rebounds. For the Blackhawks, Noah Dickson had 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the way, while Cayden Slykhuis had 15 points.

The Beavers will play again on Friday against Bridgewater-Emery in Alexandria. As for the Blackhawks, they will play again at Ethan on Feb. 3.

PIERRE — The Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles lead by Andrew Bergan, had a 61-40 victory over the Pierre Governors on Tuesday night in Pierre.

Bergan finished with 18 points, while Austin Huff had 12 points for the Golden Eagles. For Pierre, Grey Zabel finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while Lincoln Kienkolz had 13 points and five rebounds.

The Governors will be in Yankton on Friday. The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, will travel to Brandon on Friday to face Brandon Valley.

ARMOUR —Four players scored 10 or more points for Platte-Geddes in its 69-47 victory over Tripp-Delmont-Armour in boys basketball Monday night in Armour.

Kelby VanDerWerff led Platte-Geddes (7-2) with 19 points. Caden Foxley added 12 points. Kade Starr and Brody Boltjes contributed 11 points apiece.

Carson Koehn led Tripp-Delmont-Armour (5-4) with 17 points. Logan Van Pelt pitched in 14 points and Tristin Bialas 12 points.

Platte-Geddes faces Parkston in Parkston today (Tuesday). Tripp-Delmont-Armour also plays Tuesday, as the Nighthawks face Centerville.

For FA-M, Gavin Pankratz posted 18 points and six rebounds. Thalen Schroeder scored 12 points. Quincy Blue added three steals.
