Mitchell swept the Yankton Black Sox in youth baseball action on Monday at Riverside Field at Bob Tereshinski Stadium.

Mitchell scored four runs in the first inning and held on for a 7-4 victory in the opener.

Sam Kampshoff doubled and singled for Yankton. Caeden Ekroth had a double and two RBI. Paul McGlone had the other Yankton hit, a double.

Colton Potts took the loss, striking out five in his five innings of work.

Mitchell built a 5-1 lead on the way to an 8-3 victory in the nightcap.

Dylan Prouty’s double was the lone Yankton hit.

Jacob Larson took the loss, striking out six in his six innings of work.

Yankton, 7-12, host Sioux Falls West on Wednesday. Start time for the doubleheader is 5 p.m.

Legion

Tabor 7, Alexandria 3

TYNDALL — Tabor built an early lead and iced the game with a four-run sixth inning in a 7-3 victory over Alexandria in American Legion baseball action on Monday.

Mace Merkwan went 2-3 with a home run, a double and four RBI to lead Tabor. Josh Schmidt went 2-4 with a triple. Beau Rothschadl went 2-3 with a double. Christian Uecker tripled and Zach Cuka doubled in the win.

Merkwan picked up the win, striking out seven in his four innings of work. Cuka struck out four in two innings of relief.

Tabor, 5-5, hosts Crofton, Nebraska, on Wednesday.

Hartington 5, Ponca 1

PONCA, Neb. — Seth Wiebelhaus had three doubles, two RBI and two runs scored as Hartington downed Ponca 5-1 in American Legion baseball action on Monday.

Jacob Kaiser had a hit and two RBI, and Turner Korth and Chase Lammers each had a hit in the win.

Brandon Kneifl had two hits for Ponca. Evan Anderson, Hunter Volkert and Cole Richards each had a hit.

Ted Bengston picked up the win, with Korth pitching two innings of shutout relief. Volkert took the loss, striking out seven in his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Hartington, 4-8, travels to Randolph today (Tuesday). Ponca, 5-7, hosts Wisner-Pilger/Dodge-Howells on Wednesday.

Amateur

Lesterville 11, Irene 5

IRENE — Tyler Guthmiller had four hits and Andy Dollerschell homered as part of a five-hit attack to lead Lesterville past Irene 11-5 in South Central League action Sunday night in Irene.

Dollerschell hit a three-homer and singled twice, while Dave Schmidt doubled and singled. Also for Lesterville, Tyler Edler and Brandan Wagner both singled twice. Alex Wagner pitched six innings for the win.

Tate Gale had a pair of hits for Irene, which scored all five runs in the fifth inning. Jacob Rausch took the loss.

Lesterville (3-2) hosts Scotland on Thursday and Irene (1-6) hosts Freeman on Sunday.
