MITCHELL — Yankton Fury Black pounded out 25 runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Mitchell Aftershock in girls’ softball action on Monday in Mitchell.
Yankton scored in each inning to claim a 13-4 victory in the opener.
Payton Moser went 3-3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored to lead a balanced Yankton attack. Olivia Binde went 2-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored. Camryn Koletzky doubled and singled, scoring twice. Teighlor Karstens had two hits and two RBI. Emma Eichacker homered, posting two RBI and two runs scored. Emma Herrboldt, Mikayla Humpal and Chloe Vander Tuig each had a hit in the win.
Binde picked up the win, striking out four.
Yankton took control with a 10-run second inning, then survived a late rally to claim a 12-10 victory in the nightcap.
Binde had two hits and two run scored, and Eichacker had a home run and three RBI to lead Yankton. Koletzky posted a triple and three RBI. Moser and Humpal each doubled, with Moser scoring twice. Vander Tuig, Lenae Wiersma and Karstens each had a hit in the win.
Koletzky picked up the win.
Fury Black, 18-14-1, heads in the other direction today (Tuesday) to face the Norfolk, Nebraska, Golden Girls. Start time for the twinbill is 6:30 p.m.
