Yankton Fury Black bounced back from an opening game setback to earn a doubleheader split against Elk Point-Jefferson in girls’ softball action on Monday at Riverside Park.
Yankton used a trio of big innings to claim the nightcap 19-3.
Emma Herrboldt went 2-3 with a double, four RBI and two runs scored to lead the Fury Black. Payton Moser and Teighlor Karstens each had two hits, with Moser posting three runs scored and two RBI. Olivia Binde and Mikayla Humpal each had a hit, with Humpal scoring three times. Camryn Koletzky and Lenae Wiersma each scored three times in the win.
Karstens picked up the win, striking out three in the three-inning contest.
EPJ claimed the opener 7-2.
Wiersma, Hope Lesher and Koletzky each had a hit for Yankton.
Binde took the loss.
Yankton, 25-18-1, returns to action today (Tuesday), hosting the Norfolk Golden Girls. Start time is 6:30 p.m. at the Summit Center fields.
