SIOUX FALLS — The Yankton Gazelles had their chances, but dropped a 7-2 decision to Sioux Falls O’Gorman in girls’ tennis action on Tuesday.
O’Gorman players won three of the four super-tiebreakers in the match, with Yankton’s Maggie Schaefer earning a 1-6, 6-4, (11-9) victory over O’Gorman’s Rima Jamous at flight two singles to improve to 13-1 on the season.
Yankton’s other victory came at flight one singles, as Josephine Krajewski beat O’Gorman’s Sage Barnard 6-3, 6-2, to improve to 13-1 on the season.
Olivia Tennant (flight three) and Stacia Sherman (flight five) lost super-tiebreakers in singles. Schaefer and Stacia Sherman (flight two) dropped a super-tiebreaker in doubles.
Yankton travels to Sioux Falls on Saturday to face Roosevelt and Aberdeen Roncalli. Start time is 9 a.m. at Kuehn Park.
