MITCHELL — Canova scored twice in the top of the ninth to claim a 3-1 victory over Flandreau in the second round of the South Dakota State Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament on Wednesday at Mitchell’s Cadwell Park. The game was a rematch of the 2018 championship, won by Canova.

Jared Miller went 2-3 with a home run and two RBI for Canova. Garrett Gassman also homered. Jason Miller had the other hit.

Keith Cutler had two hits, and Carter Howell and Tanner Harris each doubled for Flandreau. Mitch Foster, Bret Severtson and Beau Severtson each had a hit in the effort.

Trey Krier went the distance, striking out four, for the win. Bret Severtson struck out six in the loss, also going the distance.

Canova advances to the 7:30 p.m. quarterfinal on Friday.

Dell Rapids 16, Four Corners 6

MITCHELL — The Dell Rapids Mudcats pounded out 20 hits on the way to a 16-6 victory over Four Corners in the second round in the South Dakota State Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament on Wednesday at Mitchell’s Cadwell Park.

Three different players had three hits for Dell Rapids. Mark Houck went 3-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Chad Hunt and Josh Roemen each had three hits and three runs scored, with Roemen driving in two runs. Nate Henry and Elijah Story each doubled and singled, with Henry driving two runs and Story scoring twice. Travis Peters, Grant Olson and Jared Donahue each had two hits, with Olson driving in two runs. Aaron Johnson added a hit in the victory.

Justin Allen had three hits, and Brad Hand, Casey Schlechter and Kris Dozark had two hits each for Four Corners. Brian Graves doubled, driving in two. Nathan Hainy added a hit in the effort.

Andrew Wegner pitched three innings of shutout relief for the victory. Josh Davies took the loss.

Clark 7, Northville 2

MITCHELL — Clark’s Jay Huber struck out nine in a complete game four-hitter as the Traders topped Northville 7-2 in the second round of the South Dakota State Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament on Tuesday at Mitchell’s Cadwell Park.

Zach Toben went 4-5 with a double for Clark. Zach Puetz went 2-5 with a triple. Kyle Braun went 2-4 with a double. Rhett Florey tripled, and Bryce Des Lauriers, Josh Nelson and Huber each had a hit in the victory.

Cody Lefforge, Ryan Hoffman, Greg Heyne and Andrew Overby each had a hit for Northville.

Bryan Weber took the loss. Sam Thorson struck out four in three innings of shutout relief for the Merchants.

Clark faces Garretson in the in the 5:30 p.m. quarterfinal on Friday.
