Brandon Valley scored twice in the seventh inning to rally past Yankton 2-1 in American Legion baseball action on Tuesday at Riverside Field at Bob Tereshinski Stadium.

William Brown had two hits and a RBI, and Lake Terveer had a RBI double for Brandon Valley. Jaxon Haase also doubled. Dayne Peyton and Connor Knecht each had a hit in the win.

Ethan Wishon doubled and singled, driving in a run, to lead Yankton. Bailey Sage also had two hits. Collin Zahrbock and Owen Feser each had a hit in the effort.

Braden Wills struck out nine in the complete game victory. Cayden Peterson took the loss in relief of Jayden Lightner, who struck out three in three innings of shutout work in his Legion debut for the season.

Brandon Valley, 20-14, travels to Harrisburg today (Wednesday). Yankton, 22-14, faces pool host North Saint Paul and Ham Lake/Blaine to open play in the Gopher Classic on Friday.

Wakefield 2, Vermillion 1

WAKEFIELD, Neb. — Wakefield, Nebraska, outlasted Vermillion 2-1 in American Legion Seniors baseball action on Tuesday.

Jack Kratz went 2-3 with a home run for Vermillion. Drew Thelen tripled. Connor Saunders, Rylan Craig and Gray Peterson each had a hit in the effort.

Dylan Thelen took the loss, striking out 10 in his 5 1/3 innings of work.

Vermillion, 9-10, travels to Hanson today (Wednesday).

Crofton 11, Yankton Black Sox 3

CROFTON, Neb. — Crofton jumped out to a 7-0 lead after three innings and cruised to an 11-3 victory over the Yankton Black Sox in youth baseball action on Tuesday.

Dylan Prouty had a hit and two runs scored for Yankton. Jacob Larson had a hit and two RBI in the effort.

Austin Pederson took the loss.

The Black Sox, 13-16-1, play in the Sioux Falls Tournament, beginning on Thursday.

Brandon Valley 8-15, Yankton Grey Sox 0-0

Brandon Valley pitching combined to allow just four hits in two games, completing a sweep of the Yankton Grey Sox in youth baseball action on Tuesday at Riverside Field at Bob Tereshinski Stadium.

Brandon Valley won the opener 8-0.

For Yankton, John Rye, Keagan Holmstrom and Wyatt Holmstrom each had a hit.

Rye took the loss, striking out four in his four innings of work. Maliek Franklin struck out three in two innings of relief.

Brandon Valley completed the sweep with a 15-0 decision. Alex Kleinsasser had the lone Yankton hit.

Jack Halsted took the loss, striking out five in his two innings of work.

The Grey Sox play in the Sioux Falls Tournament, beginning on Thursday.
