The Yankton Reds improved to 12-1 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Mitchell White in baseball action on Thursday.

In the opener, Yankton rallied from an early deficit to claim a 4-1 victory.

Austin Gobel and Landon Potts each had two hits for Yankton. Hunter Teichroew tripled. Owen Wishon, Frankie In’t Veld and Keenan Wagner each had a hit in the win.

Cohen Zahrbock went the distance in the win, striking out four and allowing two hits in the six-inning contest.

In the nightcap, the Reds came back from a 5-0 deficit to claim a 9-5 victory.

Hudson Bergeson had two hits, and In’t Veld had a hit and two RBI for Yankton. Gobel, Potts, Wishon, Lucas Kampshoff, Wagner and Zahrbock each had a hit in the win.

In’t Veld, who pitched three innings of shutout relief, picked up the win. He struck out three batters and allowed two hits.

The Reds play in the Brandon Valley Tournament beginning today (Friday).

Legion

Dakota Valley 5, Vermillion 3

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Dakota Valley scored four runs in the sixth to claim a 5-3 victory over Vermillion in American Legion baseball action on Wednesday.

Jake Likness and Eric Johnson each doubled and singled for Dakota Valley. Keaton Hensley also doubled. Brenden Klasi, Nathan Rice and Cade Zeller each had a hit in the win.

Connor Saunders and Jack Kratz each had a hit for Vermillion.

Drew Addison struck out six in three innings of scoreless relief for the win. Hensley earned the save, striking out the side in the seventh. Dylan Thelen took the loss.

Dakota Valley, 3-5, plays in the South Sioux City Tournament this weekend. Dakota Valley faces Tekamah-Herman and Lakeview on Saturday.

Vermillion, 2-7, travels to Elk Point-Jefferson on Saturday.

Ponca 11, Randolph 2

PONCA, Neb. — Ponca scored in each of the first three innings to claim an 11-2 victory over Randolph in American Legion baseball action on Wednesday.

Carson Fox, Evan Anderson, Brandon Kneifl and Gage McGill each had two hits for Ponca, with Fox driving in three runs and Anderson driving in two. Bubba Cabrales had a hit and two RBI. Hunter Volkert added a hit in the win.

Kneifl picked up the win, striking out four in his four innings of work.

Ponca, 4-4, hosts Arlington today (Friday).

Beresford-Centerville 9, Elk Point-Jefferson 5

BERESFORD — Beresford-Centerville used a pair of four-run innings to beat Elk Point-Jefferson 9-5 in American Legion baseball action on Wednesday.

Zach Erickson doubled and singled, driving in three, for Beresford-Centerville. Brad Christensen also doubled and singled. Conner Thaler had two hits and three RBI in the win.

Tyler Goehring doubled and singled, driving in two, for EPJ. Tyler Leif also had two hits. Preston Fejfar, Hunter Goehring, Chris Nelson and Skyler Swatek each had a hit in the effort.

Thaler picked up the win, striking out five in his six innings of work. Leif took the loss.

EPJ, 2-2, hosts Vermillion on Saturday.
