HARRISBURG — Harrisburg rallied in each end of a doubleheader to earn a sweep over the Yankton Black Sox in youth baseball action on Monday.
In the opener, Harrisburg used a seven-run fifth to claim a 9-6 victory.
Marcus Adam, Brayden Boese, Landon Loecker and Dylan Prouty each had a hit for Yankton.
Jacob Larson took the loss in relief. Austin Pederson started, striking out three in his four innings of work.
In the nightcap, Harrisburg scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth for a 6-5 victory.
Caeden Ekroth doubled twice and Loecker doubled for Yankton. Paul McGlone and Sam Kampshoff each had a hit in the effort.
McGlone took the loss in relief. Marcus Adam started, striking out four in his six innings of work.
Yankton, 4-7, hosts Brandon Valley on Wednesday. Start time for the twinbill is 5 p.m.
Legion: Elk Point-Jefferson 11, Ponca 1
ELK POINT — Elk Point-Jefferson used a seven-run fourth inning to down Ponca 11-1 in American Legion baseball action on Monday.
Chris Nelson tripled and doubled, and Tyler Goehring went 2-3 with a triple for EPJ. Preston Fejfar doubled and singled. Tyler Leif also had two hits. Andrew Nearman, Myles Herrity, Ben Hanson and Skyler Swatek each had a hit in the win.
Brandon Kneifl and Gage McGill each had two hits for Ponca. Evan Anderson had the other hit.
Fejfar went the distance in the win, striking out 10 in the five-inning contest. Michael Logue took the loss.
EPJ, 2-1, travels to Beresford on Wednesday. Ponca, 3-4, hosts Randolph on Wednesday.
