MILLARD, Neb. — The Yankton American Legion Junior team finished the Millard Tournament on a positive note, beating Lincoln Southeast 9-1 on Sunday.

Austin Wagner and Cameron Zahrbock each had two hits and two runs scored, with Zahrbock also driving in two runs, for Yankton. Carson Haak had a double and four RBI. Trevor Fitzgerald tripled and Bradley Howe added a hit in the win.

Howe picked up the win, scattering five hits in the five-inning contest.

Yankton, 7-7, hosts the Sioux Falls East Nationals squad on Wednesday. Start time for the twinbill is 1 p.m.

Yankton Juniors 3, ETC 2

Austin Wagner went 3-3 with a triple and a double as the Yankton Juniors edged ETC 3-2 in the Millard Tournament on Saturday.

Carson Haak had two hits, and Joe Gokie and Tristan Redman each had a hit in the win.

Haak went the distance in the win, striking out three.

Carpetland 7, Yankton Juniors 2

Carpetland outlasted the Yankton Juniors 7-2 in the Millard Tournament on Saturday.

Cameron Zahrbock, Joe Gokie, Jayden Lightner and Tristan Redman each had a hit for Yankton. Austin Wagner scored both Yankton runs.

Gokie took the loss, going the distance.

Yankton Lakers 8, Dell Rapids 3

Four different players had two hits each as the Yankton Lakers downed Dell Rapids 8-3 in the Mitchell Tournament on Saturday.

Garrett Nelson doubled and singled, and Rugby Ryken, Luke Bernatow and Cooper Grotenhuis each had two hits for Yankton. Cody Oswald and Connor Teichroew each doubled. Mac Ryken had a hit and two RBI, and Josh Sheldon added a hit in the win.

Isaiah Schelhaas picked up the win, with Drew Ryken striking out four in four innings of relief.

Pierre 11, Yankton Grey Sox 1

Pierre scored three runs in each of the first three innings to claim an 11-1 victory over the Yankton Grey Sox in the Mitchell Tournament on Saturday.

John Rye had a hit and a RBI for Yankton. Maliek Franklin scored the run.

Keagan Holmstrom took the loss, striking out three in his three innings of work.

Yankton Lakers 12, Sturgis 3

Garrett Nelson went 3-3 with two doubles and three runs scored to lead the Yankton Lakers past Sturgis 12-3 in the Mitchell Tournament on Saturday.

Cody Oswald doubled and singled, driving in two, for Yankton. Drew Ryken and Isaiah Schelhaas each had a hit and two RBI. Connor Teichroew added a hit in the win.

Teichroew picked up the win, striking out seven in the five-inning contest.

Other Youth Games

Yankton Reds 9-15, Brandon Valley 4-3

BRANDON — The Yankton Reds pounded out 24 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Brandon Valley on Saturday.

Austin Gobel went 3-5 with a double to lead Yankton to a 9-4 victory in the opener.

Payton Peterson went 2-2 with a double, and Owen Wishon went 2-2 with two RBI for Yankton. Tyson Prouty had a double and two RBI, and Landon Potts, Sean Turner and Cohen Zahrbock each had a hit in the win.

Peterson picked up the win, with Zahrbock striking out five in 3 2/3 innings of relief for the save.

Gobel went 3-3 with a home run and four runs scored as the Yankton Reds rolled past Brandon Valley 15-3 in the nightcap.

Zahrbock also went 3-3, driving in three runs. Potts doubled and singled. Wishon also had two hits. Frankie In’t Veld had a triple and three RBI, Lucas Kampshoff had a hit and two RBI, and Hunter Teichroew, Hudson Bergeson and Tucker Gilmore each had a hit in the win.

Kampshoff picked up the win, striking out seven in his 3 2/3 innings of work. Gobel got the final out, striking out the lone batter he faced on three pitches.

The Reds, 8-1, travel to Watertown on Tuesday.
