GARRETSON — Tyndall had a potential game-winning rally suspended due to rain during an opening round matchup against Kimball-White Lake in the South Dakota Class B VFW 16-Under Teener baseball tournament, Friday in Garretson.

At the time the game was called, it was tied 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh. Tyndall has runners on second and third with two outs in the inning. It will be resumed at 9 a.m. today (Saturday).

Cole Bares is 3-4 with a triple and two runs scored for Tyndall. Trent Herrboldt has a hit and two RBI. Kaden Kozak and Kaleb Kubal each have a hit.

For KWL, Drayton Priebe is 3-4 with a double and two runs scored. Caden Lenz has a triple, a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Nolan Kirsch added a triple for the other KWL hit.

Carter Uecker started, striking out seven through 6 1/3 innings. Riley Rothschadl got the final two outs in the top of the seventh. Lenz started for KWL, striking out eight batters in 6 2/3 innings. Priebe was facing his second batter when the game was stopped.

The tournament runs through Sunday.

Parkston 3, Wessington Springs 1

GARRETSON — Parkston outlasted Wessington Springs 3-1 in the opening round of the South Dakota Class B VFW 16-Under Teener baseball tournament, Friday in Garretson.

Jon Akre, Kade Bialas, Carter Kalda, Joshua Polreis and T.J. Schmidt each had a hit for Parkston.

Caden Slykhuis had two hits, and Quinten Christensen and Cooper Hainy each doubled for Wessington Springs, which outhit Parkston 9-5. Dylan Schimke, Landon Cleveland and Mason Schelske each had a hit in the effort.

Landon Sudbeck pitched 5 2/3, striking out six, for the win. Bialas got the final four outs for the save. Coen Harvey took the loss, striking out six in his 4 1/3 innings of work.

Parkston will face Canova in the first semifinal game today (Saturday). Wessington Springs plays Hamlin in a consolation game.

The tournament runs through Sunday.

Legion: Central Plains

Renner 6, Edina 5

SIOUX FALLS — Renner stayed alive in the Central Plains Region American Legion Baseball Tournament with a 6-5 victory over Edina, Minnesota, on Friday.

C.J. Stukel had two hits, and Will Washenberger had a double and three RBI for Renner. Nick Hoekstra had the other Renner hit.

Cam Schmidt went 3-4, and Drew Schmidt went 2-3 with a double and three RBI for Edina, which outhit Renner 10-4. Andrew Enck, Lucas Fleming, Jackson Mollot, Jack Murphy and Evan Brown each had a hit in the effort.

Dalton Vanderloo pitched five innings for the win. Sam Stukel pitched two innings of shutout relief for the save. Thomas Quello took the loss.

Renner will face Excelsior, Minnesota, today (Saturday). The game will be played at either 1 or 4 p.m., depending on the outcome of Excelsior’s matchup with Appleton, Wisconsin.

The Excelsior-Appleton matchup, which was to be played after the Renner-Edina game, was suspended in the second inning due to rain, with Excelsior leading 2-0.
