Yankton’s Zachary Fedde and Norfolk’s Daphne Buss earned top honors at the Yankton JV Invitational cross country meet, held on Tuesday at Fox Run Golf Course. JV races were 5,000 meters, while middle school races were 4,000 meters.

In the JV girls’ race, Buss finished in 22:24.73 to beat out Yankton’s Rylie Andrus (22:46.24). Yankton’s Bailey Kenney also finished in the top 10, placing eighth in 24:10.58.

In the JV boys’ race, Fedde clocked a 16:09.33, beating out Harrisburg’s Cody VanBerkum (16:17.37). Due to a course error, the top 20 runners ran 400 meters short.

Pierce’s Alexus Sindelar won the middle school girls’ race in 15:37.36. Nora Welker was the top Yankton runner, placing sixth in 17:04.59, followed by Crofton’s Ella Wragge (17:05.39).

Yankton’s Will Pavlish won the middle school boys’ race in 14:28.22, as the Bucks put five runners in the top seven and six in the top nine. Harrisburg’s Peyton Tryon was second in 14:31.79, followed by Yankton’s Mac Ryken (15:04.04), Alex Nockels (15:04.93) and Milo Johnson (15:06.92).

Yankton finishes the regular season with a home triangular, as Harrisburg and Brookings come to town on Thursday. Start time is 4:15 p.m.
