DEARBORN, Mich. — Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) swept Mount Marty College 25-18, 30-28, 25-14 on Friday evening at the Michigan-Dearborn Early Bird Challenge on Friday in Dearborn, Michigan.
Mount Marty, now 1-2 on the season, split a pair of matches on Friday.
In the loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene, the Lancers got 10 kills from Mikaela Ahrendt, seven kills from Elizabeth Watchorn and Gabby Ruth, and 13 set assists from Amber Miller. Molly Brinkman paced the defense with 12 digs and Watchorn tacked on 11 digs.
Mount Marty continues action today (Saturday) against St. Francis (Illinois) at 11:30 a.m. and Goshen (Indiana) at 2 p.m.
MMC 3, ROCHESTER 0: Caitlin Dirks (14) and Mikaela Ahrendt (11) both recorded double digit kills as Mount Marty swept Rochester (Michigan) 25-21, 25-16, 25-20 in Friday’s first match.
Gabby Ruth and Bret Woelber both added six kills for the Lancers, while Hannah Cunningham recorded 22 set assists and Amber Miller had 14 set assists. Elizabeth Watchorn led the defense with 16 digs. As a team, the Lancers hit .301.
