Pankratz Scores 1,000th Carer Point

CENTERVILLE — Logan Bobzin scored a game-high 20 points and Gavin Gibney posted a double-double as Centerville roared past Menno 68-43 in boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Gibney finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds for Centerville, which trailed 18-16 at the half. Hayden Ellis added eight points in the victory.

Trey Spencer led Menno with 17 points and nine rebounds. Josh Heckenlaible posted 12 points and 12 rebounds. Levi Bender added nine points and three steals.

Centerville hosts Gayville-Volin today (Friday). Menno travels to Colome on Saturday.

FREEMAN — Freeman Academy-Marion standout Gavin Pankratz scored 29 points, giving him exactly 1,000 points for his career, as the Bearcats downed Andes Central-Dakota Christian in Great Plains Conference boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Quincy Blue scored 16 points and Payton Arbach had 10 points for FA-M. Connor Epp had 11 assists and Thalen Schroeder added nine rebounds in the victory.

Tyler Swanson led AC-DC with 19 points. Jaeson Garcia added 15 points.

FA-M travels to Menno on Tuesday. AC-DC hosts Kimball-White Lake today (Friday) at Dakota Christian School.

FREEMAN — Trever Burke scored a game-high 20 points to lead Corsica-Stickney past Freeman 79-31 in boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Brendan Wentland finished with 17 points for Corsica-Stickney. Mason Odens scored 14 points, and Jaylen Kemp added seven rebounds in the victory.

Micah Swensen led Freeman with 14 points and six rebounds. Bradey Kaufman added 13 points.

Corsica-Stickney, 11-3, faces White River in the Culver’s/Dakota Wesleyan Classic on Saturday in Mitchell. Freeman hosts Ethan on Tuesday.

BLOOMFIELD, Neb. — Creighton overcame a 26-point performance by Bloomfield’s Braden Eisenhauer in a 56-55 victory over the Bees in Lewis & Clark Conference boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Gabe Lauck added 17 points for Bloomfield.

Creighton, 12-8, hosts Plainview tonight (Friday). Bloomfield, 10-9, hosts Allen on Saturday.

BROOKINGS — Aberdeen Central used four players in double figures to down Brookings 75-46 in boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Sam Rolhfs was 6-for-7 from the field on the way to a game-high 14 points to lead Aberdeen Central. Reece Burckhardt had 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Austin Huff and Noah Behrends each had 10 points in the victory.

Nick Schefers led Brookings with 10 points.

Aberdeen Central, 8-7, hosts Watertown on Tuesday. Brookings hosts O’Gorman on Saturday.

Riley Ferry posted 19 points and eight rebounds for Hanson. Simon Weber added eight assists and four steals in the victory.

Joey Feiner scored 12 points and Nathanael Anderberg scored 10 points for Mitchell Christian. Ty Vander Pol grabbed eight rebounds.

Hanson, 14-3, faces Dell Rapids St. Mary in the Culver’s/Dakota Wesleyan Classic on Saturday in Mitchell. Mitchell Christian plays in the Sacred Hoops Classic on Saturday in Stephan.

Trey Ramstad scored 23 points and Ryker Erstad scored 20 points for Arlington. Casey Stegeman added 11 points in the victory.

Connor Libis led St. Mary with 32 points. Max Herber added 10 points.

Arlington, 14-2, hosts Colman-Egan on Monday. St. Mary, 12-3, plays Hanson in the Culver’s/Dakota Wesleyan Classic on Saturday in Mitchell.

S.F. Christian 78, Western Christian 70

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Christian used four players in double figures to outlast Western Christian (Iowa) in boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Zach Witte scored 24 points and Tyler Prins scored 19 points for SFC. Xavier Van Beek netted 14 points and Noah Van Donkersgoed added 10 points in the victory.

Ty Van Essen led Western Christian with 23 points. Dawson Feenstra score 20 points. Tyson Boer added 10 points.

SFC, 13-3, faces top-ranked St. Thomas More in the Culvers/Dakota Wesleyan Classic on Saturday in Mitchell.

Winner 66, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 63

WINNER — Winner outscored Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 19-9 in the fourth quarter to rally to a 66-63 victory in boys’ basketball action on Thursday.

Brady Fritz scored a game-high 31 points to lead Winner. Joren Bruun added 13 points in the victory.

Riley Hodgkiss led C-EB with 19 points. Rance Harrison added 14 points.

Winner, 11-4, returns to action tonight (Friday), hosting McLaughlin. C-EB continues on the road, traveling to Aberdeen Roncalli on Saturday.
