MADISON — The Vermillion Tanagers had four singles players each win one match in the Madison Invitational girls’ tennis tournament, held Friday in Madison.

Vermillion’s Annika Barnett finished sixth at flight three singles, falling to Huron’s Abby Thomas 8-1 in the fifth place match.

At flight five singles, Vermillion’s Madi Schladoer finished sixth, falling to Huron’s Claire Robish 8-3 in the fifth place match.

Vermillion’s Katrina Heles placed seventh at flight two singles, beating Lennox’s Gracen Juffer 9-7 in the seventh place match.

Vermillion’s Lauren Mandernach finished seventh at flight four singles, beating Spearfish’s Maddy Reichert 8-3 in the seventh place match.

Vermillion plays in Yankton today (Saturday), facing Rapid City Stevens and Watertown. Start time is set for 9 a.m.
