GARRETSON — Canova scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally past Tyndall 9-7 in Sunday evening’s championship game of the South Dakota VFW Class B 16-Under Baseball Tournament in Garretson.

Tyndall took a 7-4 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, but Canova scored twice and then pulled in front in the sixth inning.

Riley Genzlinger doubled twice and drove in three runs for Canova, while Tanner Jacobsen singled twice, and Hayden Gregerson and Kieffer Klinkhammer both drove in two runs.

For Tyndall, Riley Rothschadl doubled, singled, scored twice and had two RBI, while Connor Peters also doubled and singled. Cole Bares, Kaleb Kubal and Carter Uecker all singled twice, and Uecker added two RBI.

Klinkhammer got the win and Trent Herrboldt took the loss.

Third: Garretson 6, Parkston 5

GARRETSON — Dylan Kindt’s single in the bottom of the seventh scored the winning run for Garretson in a 6-5 victory over Parkston in Sunday’s third place game of the South Dakota VFW Class B 16-Under Baseball Tournament in Garretson.

The game was tied 1-1 heading into the seventh, but Parkston scored four times in the top half to take control. Garretson, though, scored five times to win.

Kindt’s single was only the third of the game for Garretson, as Tayson Swatek and Cadyn Ockenga also singled.

For Parkston, Max Scott doubled and drove in three runs, while Landon Sudbeck, Joshua Polreis, T.J. Schmidt, Jon Akre, Isaak Bialas and Cole Prunty all singled.

Carson Clark got the win in relief of Isaiah Gnadt, while Bialas took the loss in relief of Scott.

Saturday

Tyndall 6, Garretson 2

GARRETSON — Tyndall jumped out to an early lead and pulled away to a 6-2 victory over host Garretson in the semifinals of the South Dakota VFW Class B 16-Under Baseball Tournament on Saturday.

Jac Conrad went 3-3 with a double to lead Tyndall. Kaleb Kubal had two hits and three RBI. Jaxson Schonebaum also had two hits. Cole Bares had a hit and two RBI. Riley Rothschadl and Kaden Kozak each had a hit in the victory.

Jayse Miller had two hits for Garretson. Evan Bly, Carson Clark and Cole Skadsen each had a hit in the effort.

Rothschadl pitched 6 1/3 innings, striking out 10, for the win. Dylan Kindt took the loss, striking out five in his four innings of work.

Canova 6, Parkston 3

GARRETSON —Canova had four different players record two hits each in a 6-3 victory over Parkston in the semifinals of the South Dakota VFW Class B 16-Under Baseball Tournament on Saturday.

Hayden Gregerson doubled and singled for Canova. Jaxon Kampshoff, Lane Miller and Tanner Jacobsen each had two hits, with Jacobsen driving in two runs. Paul Winker had a double and two RBI. Riley Genzlinger added a hit in the victory.

Max Scott had two of Parkston’s four hits. Kade Bialas and Logan Heidinger each had a hit.

Colton Spader pitched four innings, striking out five, for the win. Genzlinger pitched the final three innings for the long-relief save. Kade Bialas took the loss, striking out four in his five innings of work. Scott struck out three in his inning of relief.

Tyndall 5, KWL 4

GARRETSON — Kaden Kozak’s RBI double in the bottom of the ninth lifted Tyndall to a 5-4 victory over Kimball-White Lake in the first round of the South Dakota VFW Class B 16-Under Baseball Tournament on Saturday. The game started on Friday, but was suspended in the bottom of the seventh.

Cole Bares went 3-4 with a triple to lead Tyndall. Kozak finished with two hits. Trent Herrboldt had a hit and two RBI. Riley Rothschadl, Kaleb Kubal and Carter Uecker each had a hit in the victory.

Drayton Priebe went 3-4 with a double and two runs scored for KWL. Caden Lenz went 2-3 with a triple, a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Nolan Kirsch added a triple.

Rothschadl pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, striking out three, for the win. Uecker started, striking out seven in his 6 1/3 innings of work. Priebe took the loss in relief of Lenz, who struck out eight in his 6 2/3 innings of work.
