FREMONT, Neb. — The Mount Marty College women’s golf team shot a 352 to win the eight-team Midland Invitational on Monday.
The Lancers edged Concordia by one stroke. College of Saint Mary was third at 358, followed by host Midland at 364.
Molly Koisti led MMC, shooting an 85 to place sixth. Sara Skorheim also broke the top 10, shooting an 87.
Also for the Lancers, Kayla Ovall shot 88, and Chantel Brende and Courtney Heath each shot 92.
Competing individually, MMC’s Taylor Noid shot 96 and Emily Vande Kop shot 96.
CSM’s Victoria Suto earned medalist honors with an 80. Concordia’s Kendra Placke and Midland’s Tiffany Scheele each shot 81.
Next up for the Lancers is the Lila Frommelt Fall Classic, Sept. 13-14 at Dakota Dunes.
Payne Stewart Memorial
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – South Dakota women’s golf team sits in ninth-place after the opening day of the Missouri State Payne Stewart Memorial Invitational played at Twin Oaks Country Club on Monday.
The Coyotes have a 36-hole score of 615 after the opening day with the final 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday. South Dakota shot 310 in the opening 18 and came back with a 305 in the second 18.
UTEP (589) leads host Missouri State (591) in the team race by two shots after the opening two rounds. UTEP’s Audrey Haddad leads the individual competition with a one-under 141 total after 36 holes.
Leading the way after two rounds is Emma Sabbagh who shot 77-74 for a 151 total on the par 71 layout and is tied for 19th place.
Laerke Jensen fired rounds 74-78 for a 152 while Katie Bartlett bounced back from an opening round 81 to shot one-over par 72 in the second round and sits at 153.
Rounding out the counting five for the Coyotes were Julia Hall (78-81-159) and Megan Munneke (83-82-165).
Playing as individuals for South Dakota were Olivia Roper (83-81-164), Jalea Culliver (82-90-172) and Molly Fossen (91-84-175) while Liz Duncan competed in the first round and shot 90.
The second and final day begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — The Mount Marty College men’s golf team ranked 15th after the opening round of the Siouxland Invitational, Monday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
MMC finished at 334 on the opening day. Jackson Faber led the way at 76 for the Lancers. Izac Reifenrath shot 85, Cole Anderson carded an 86 and Noah Jewett shot 87 for the Lancers. Sully Lewis rounded out the Lancer scorecard with a 91. Zack Mauch, playing unattached, shot an 89.
Morningside held a five-stroke lead after the opening round with a 2-under 282. Dakota Wesleyan sits in second, with Doane third at 289.
Morningside’s Torben Boerger and Jonny Douglas were tied for the opening round lead at 2-under 69. Dakota Wesleyan’s Cade Carpenter was one stroke back.
The tournament concludes today (Tuesday) in Orange City, Iowa.
NDSU Match Play, Ccd.
FARGO, N.D. – South Dakota men’s golf season opening tourney, the NDSU Match Play event that was underway in Oxbow, North Dakota, has been canceled due to persistent rain.
Teams completed roughly nine holes before storms cut loose, thus ending the event.
The Coyotes are back on the links at the Colorado State Ram Masters Invitational on Sept. 16-17.
