TYNDALL — Lexi Plitzuweit and Lexi Saunders scored in double figures to lead Vermillion to a 62-27 victory over Bon Homme Friday night in the opening night of South Dakota girls basketball.

Plitzuweit scored 15 points and Saunders 13 for the Tanagers (1-0).

Mckenzie Carson scored seven points and Erin Heusinkveld six for the Cavaliers. Jenae Alberts snatched 10 rebounds and three steals.

Vermillion’s next game is Dec 19 against Ponca, Neb.. Bon Homme plays again on Monday, Dec 16.

HURLEY — The Viborg-Hurley Cougars defeated the Freeman Flyers in a tough 53-44 victory on Friday night in Hurley.

NeVaeh Ronke had 12 points and eight rebounds, while Brooklyn Brandriet had 14 points in the victory for the Cougars. Dane Mach also had 10 points, while Coral Mason recorded seven assists for Viborg-Hurley.

For the Flyers, Emily Miller had 15 points, while Jaimie Glanzer had 14 points. Viborg-Hurley will face Deubrook Area at the Sioux Falls Pentagon on Saturday. The Flyers, meanwhile, while travel to Montrose Tuesday to play McCook Central/Montrose.

WINNER — Bella Swedlund and Kalla Bertram finished in double figures to lead Winner to a 71-36 victory over Wagner Friday night in girls basketball.

Swedlund scored 25 points to lead all scorers. Bertram added 15 points for Winner (1-0). Morgan Hammerbeck contributed eight points.

Abby Brunsing led Wagner (0-1) with 10 points. Kayli Kocer and Deisha Medicine pitched in seven points each.

Wagner next plays Dec 17 against Irene-Wakonda at home. Winner’s next opponent is Burke on Dec 19 in Bonesteel.

MARTY – Shalayne Nagel had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Avon Lady Pirates to a 63-36 victory over the Marty Lady Braves in Marty on Friday night.

Nagel also had five steals in the game, while Ali Sees had 12 points and four assists for the Lady Pirates. Maddie Kocmich ended the night with six rebounds for the Lady Pirates, while Katie Gretschmann had four steals.

For the Lady Braves, Karkayla Yellow Hores had 19 points while Chernessa Cournoyer had seven points and six rebounds. Julianna Standing Cloud also had six rebounds for Marty.

Avon will travel to Corsica to face Corsica-Stickney on Tuesday, while Marty will face Lower Brule at home on Saturday.

BERESFORD — Kennedy Goblirsch led Beresford to a 57-17 victory over Baltic Friday night in girls basketball.

Goblirsh tallied 16 points to lead Beresford (1-0). Molly Ebert and Jordyn Fischer tallied nine points each.

Sami Polzin tallied six points for Baltic (0-1).

Beresford’s next game is on Tuesday against Dakota Valley at home. Baltic will travel to Parker on Tuesday for their second game of the season.

CREIGHTON, Neb. — A big third quarter by Neligh-Oakdale led them to a 30-28 victory over Creighton Friday night in girls basketball .

Maycee Zimmerer tallied 12 points for Creighton (1-2) in the loss. Charlize Wilmes contributed eight points.

No stats were reported for Neligh-Oakdale (2-2).

Neligh-Oakdale stays on the road with a game against St. Mary’s coming up on Dec 17. Creighton’s next game is against Osmond on Dec 17.

Nall scored 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead Elkhorn Valley (3-0). Black added 15 points and 11 boards. Kaylee Bacon snatched 14 boards.

ALCESTER —Emily VanderFeen, Elizabeth Hallaway and Abby Walth tallied double digit points to lead Alcester-Hudson to a 42-7 victory over Freeman Academy-Marion Friday night.

VanderFeen racked up 13 points and seven rebounds for Alcester-Hudson (1-0). Hallaway added 11 points and Abby Walth 10 points and seven rebounds.

Jada Koerner led Freeman Academy-Marion with six points.

ELK POINT — The Elk Point-Jefferson defense held Canton to four points in each quarter of a 40-16 victory over the C-Hawks in the girls’ basketball season opener for both squads.

Lily Kempf led a balanced EPJ attack with 11 points and four steals. Emily Henze and Kenna Curry each had 10 points, with Curry also recording eight rebounds. Riley Donnelly had six points, seven rebounds and seven steals. Maddie Hammitt added four steals in the win.

Fallan Lundstrom led Canton with six points. Carlee Laubach had three steals.

EPJ heads to Madison today (Saturday). Canton hosts Flandreau Indian today.

OSMOND, Neb. — Wynot earned a 60-16 victory at Osmond in girls’ basketball action on Friday.

Katelyn Heine posted 15 points, going 3-for-4 from three-point range, for Wynot. Michaela Lange had 12 points, five rebounds and four steals. Shaelee Planer added 10 points and four steals in the victory.

Mary Kahny led Osmond with seven points. Macy Aschoff had six rebounds.

Wynot, 3-1, travels to Homer on Tuesday. Osmond (1-3) travels to Plainview today (Saturday).

Summerland 65, Niobrara-Verdigre 33

EWING, Neb. — Sidney Stallbaum scored 22 points to lead Summerland past Niobrara-Verdigre in Niobrara Valley Conference girls’ basketball action on Friday.

Brenna Wagner scored 15 points and Ashley Koenig added 12 points in the win.

Emily Parks led Niobrara-Verdigre with nine points. Senna Swalley and Serina Babcock each had eight points.

Summerland, 3-1, travels to Boyd County today (Saturday). Niobrara-Verdigre, 1-3, travels to Bloomfield today.

HARRISBURG — Three players scored in double-figures for Harrisburg as the Tigers beat Pierre 59-41 in girls basketball Friday evening.

Emilee Boyer tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Tigers (1-0). Aby Phipps contributed 14 points and Brecli Honner 10.

Kylee Thorpe led Pierre (0-1) with 15 points and six rebounds.

Harrisburg’s next game is at home against Brookings on Dec 17. Pierre will host Huron on the same night.

Lennox 54, Sioux Falls Christian 36

LENNOX —Two players exceeded 20 points for Lennox in a 54-36 victory over Sioux Falls Christian Friday night in girls basketball.

Madysen Vlastuin and Rianna Fillipi scored 20 points apiece to lead Lennox (1-0).

Maren Reu tallied 16 points for Sioux Falls Christian (0-1). Lauren Tims added nine points and nine rebounds.

Lennox plays Milbank today (Saturday) in Milbank. Sioux Falls Christian plays Dell Rapids on Tuesday, Dec 17.
