MENNO — Cody Ulmer’s two-run single in the bottom of the eighth lifted Menno to a 4-2 victory over Irene in South Central League amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Seven different players finished with one hit each for Menno.

Marcus Van Driel had three of Irene’s eight hits. Tate Gale added two hits.

Doug Hall went the distance for the win. Simon Healy took the loss in relief.

Menno, 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the SCL, travels to Freeman on Sunday. Irene hosts Lesterville on Sunday.

Crofton 6, Akron 5

CROFTON, Neb. — James Kaiser had a home run and a double as Crofton downed Akron, Iowa, 6-5 in amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Andrew Schieffer had a double and two RBI for Crofton. Ben Hegge and Gaige Hegge each had a hit in the win.

Nick Meisinger doubled and singled, and Quinn Bundy had two hits for Akron. Tyler Kandor doubled, and Gage Eckstein, Brett Stolpe and Jordan Renkel each had a hit in the win.

Austin Hegge struck out seven over six shutout innings for the win. Capp Bengston pitched the ninth for the save. Dan Smith took the loss.

Parkston 13, Harrisburg 12

PARKSTON — The Parkston Mudcats scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally to a 13-12 victory over Harrisburg in amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Will Lutjen went 3-5, including the game-winning hit in the ninth, with a double and two RBI for Parkston. Jeff Harris doubled and singled, driving in two. Brady Nolz had two hits and three RBI. Dan Bonte also had two hits and two RBI. Jake Weber, Brady Albrecht and Pat Harris each had two hits. Dillon Stadlman and Dylan Mogck each had a hit in the win.

T.J. Miller went 4-4 with a home run, two doubles and two RBI for Harrisburg. Mark Abrahamson doubled and singled, driving in two. Dalton Allen had a hit and two RBI. Cam Berndt, Tanner Brown and Nick Ramsted each had a hit for the Woodies.

Jake Weber, who pitched two innings of shutout relief, picked up the win. Abrahamson took the loss.
