HILLSBORO, Kan. — Mount Marty’s Awais Abid sliced through the Tabor defense to score the only goal of the second half, lifting the Lancers to a 2-1 victory over the Bluejays in men’s soccer action on Monday.

Tabor took an early 1-0 lead on Johnny Dezile’s tap-in of a Colton Roundtree pass. The Lancers tied the match midway through the first half, as Fernando Negrete launched a shot off the hands of Tabor goalkeeper Dylan Guernsey for the equalizer.

Miguel Ponce had three of Mount Marty’s 10 shots in the match. Negrete had a team-best two shots on goal.

Gabriel Ivlev stopped two shots to earn the victory in goal. Guernsey finished with four saves for Tabor.

MMC, 2-1 after a second straight victory, finishes its Kansas trip against Bethel College today (Tuesday).
