Yankton scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth, then held on for a 4-3 victory over Lesterville in South Central League amateur baseball action on Thursday at Riverside Field at Bob Tereshinski Stadium.
Devin Gullikson went 2-4 with a triple, and Nik Davis and Alex Mueller each doubled and singled for Yankton. Ross Heine also had a double. Mack Hollingsworth, Mason Townsend and Derrik Nelson each had a hit in the victory.
Tyler Edler and Tanner Van Driel each had three hits for Lesterville, which outhit the Tappers 11-10. Dave Schmidt had two hits. Shaye Bloch, Brandon Nickolite and Cameron Schiltz each had a hit for the Broncs.
Josh Teichroew picked up the win in relief, with Nelson pitching the ninth for the save. Beau Lofink started for the Tappers, striking out seven in six innings of work. Nickolite took the loss, striking out eight in a complete game effort.
Yankton, 10-1, hosts the Sioux Falls Saints on July 11.

MENNO — Cody Ulmer and Tyler Miller combined for seven RBI as Menno downed Freeman 11-1 in South Central League amateur baseball action on Thursday.
Ulmer and Miller each doubled and singled, with Ulmer driving in four runs and Miller driving in three. Zach Scott, Ryan Liebl and Macon Oplinger each had two hits in the victory.
Jake Weier doubled for Freeman.
Oplinger went the distance in the seven-inning contest for the win. Weier took the loss.
Menno travels to Lesterville on Tuesday. Freeman travels to Scotland on Sunday.

FREEMAN — Alan Scherschligt pitched a complete game six-hitter as Freeman blanked Irene 3-0 in a South Central League amateur baseball game that was completed in under two hours Tuesday night in Freeman.
Brett Scherschligt had three hits in the win, and Alan Scherschligt doubled and singled.
Matt Sees singled twice for Irene and Sawyer Hansen doubled. Hansen went the distance on the mound in a losing effort.
Irene hosts Wynot on Friday.

PONCA, Neb. — Brandon Kneifl went 4-4 with three RBI and three runs scored to lead Ponca past Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 10-7 in American Legion baseball action on Tuesday.
Hunter Volkert doubled and singled for Ponca. Carson Fox, Gage McGill and Cole Richards each doubled, with Richards driving in two. Evan Anderson, Bubba Cabrales and Michael Logue each had a hit in the win.
Izac Reifenrath and Austin Hall each had two hits, with Reifenrath driving in two runs, for LCC. Logan Hansen doubled. Trent Lubbersteut had a hit and two RBI. Charlie Stanley, Nolan Ohrich and Justin Kincade each had a hit in the effort.
Volkert pitched 5 2/3 innings, striking out four, for the win. Hansen took the loss, going the distance.
Ponca, 10-8, faces Arlington today (Friday) in Wakefield, Nebraska.
