MENNO — Jeff Honner hit a grand slam in the seventh inning, helping Scotland take control for a 7-5 Crue victory over Menno in South Central League amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Alex Caba had four hits and Honner posted two hits for Scotland. Wyatt Adam had a two-run double in the win.

Tom Sattler had a double and two singles to lead Menno’s 15-hit attack. Cody Ulmer, Macon Oplinger and Zach Scott each had two hits.

Hunter Martin went the distance in the win. Doug Hall took the loss, also going the distance.

Both teams are on the road today, Scotland in Yankton and Menno (8-7, 6-7 SCL) at Wynot.

TABOR — Three different players had three hits each as Tabor toppled Irene 8-4 in South Central Leauge amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Colin Muth and Bryce Scieszinski each went 3-4, with Scieszinski driving in three runs, for Tabor. Hunter Hallock also had three hits. Zach Sutera had two hits. Sam Caba added a hit in the win.

Simon Healy went 3-4 with a double for Irene. Tate Gale had two hits. Jamison Kleinsasser doubled, and Jacob Rausch added a hit for the Cardinals.

Hallock pitched six innings for the win. Rausch took the loss, going the distance.

Tabor travels to Yankton on Sunday. Irene hosts Menno on Sunday.

CROFTON, Neb. — Crofton pounded out 15 hits on the way to a 10-3 victory over Freeman in South Central League amateur baseball action on Thursday.

James Kaiser had a double and two singles, and Austin Hegge had three hits for Crofton. Jared Wiebelhaus and Tyler Zimmerman each had a home run and a single. Tyler Koch doubled and singled. Christopher Kleinschmit, Corey Roach and Lathan Maibaum each had a hit in the win.

Jake Weier had two hits and Nate Weier homered for Freeman. Lee Scherschligt doubled, and Alan Scherschligt, Phil Madsen and Lance Friesen each had a hit in the effort.

Capp Bengston went eight innings, striking out seven, for the win. Jake Weier took the loss.

PARKSTON — The Parkston Mudcats used a five-run third inning to pull away to a 7-1 victory over Wagner in amateur baseball action on Thursday.

Spencer Freudenthal ripped three doubles to lead Parkston. Jeff Harris doubled and singled. Billy Hamilton also had two hits. Dan Bonte and Cody Freudenthal each doubled. Spencer Lucas, Dylan Mogck, Brandon Deffenbaugh and Brady Albrecht each had a hit in the win.

Derek Soukup and Ryan Knudson each had a hit for Wagner.

Brady Nolz went the distance in the win, striking out 21. Alex Kocer took the loss.

Parkston, 12-10, hosts Corsica-Stickney on Sunday.

Lennox 12, Vermillion 10

VERMILLION — Lennox held off Vermillion 12-10 in American Legion baseball action on Thursday at Prentis Park.

Mount Marty College recruit J.D. Kirchner went 4-5 with a double and two RBI to lead Lennox. Zach Foss went 2-4 with a grand slam home run. Quincy Ihnen went 2-3. Tyson Stoebner and Brendan Hone each doubled. Zach Liesinger, Mason Miller and Cam Wulf each had a hit in the win.

Drew Thelen doubled and singled, scoring three times, for Vermillion. Willis Robertson also had two hits. Rylan Craig had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored. Jack Kratz and Sammy Ward each had a hit. Gray Peterson drove in three runs in the effort.

Ihnen pitched six innings, striking out four, for the win. Drew Thelen took the loss.

Vermillion, 9-12, travels to Hartington, Nebraska, on Sunday.

Harrisburg 16-26, Yankton Juniors 6-13

HARRISBURG — Harrisburg earned a doubleheader sweep over Yankton in American Legion Juniors baseball action on Thursday.

Harrisburg won the opener 16-6.

Matt Hein went 3-3 to lead Yankton. Joe Gokie had a double and two runs scored. Cameron Zahrbock, Trevor Fitzgerald, Tony McGlone and Kaden Luellman each had a hit in the effort.

Carson Haak took the loss.

Harrisburg completed the sweep with a 26-13 decision.

Fitzgerald had two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored for Yankton. Haak and Bradley Howe each doubled, with Haak driving in two. Gokie had a hit, four runs scored and two RBI. McGlone and Jayden Lightner each had a hit. Luellman scored three times and Zahrbock scored twice in the effort.

Luellman took the loss.

Yankton hosts Mitchell on Sunday. Start time for the twinbill is noon.
