NORTH ST. PAUL, Minn. — Yankton Post 12 dropped a pair of American Legion baseball games Friday in the opening day of the Gopher Classic in North St. Paul, Minnesota.

North St. Paul beat Yankton 6-4 and Ham Lake/Blaine then defeated Yankton 7-3.

Post 12 will face Rogers (Minnesota) today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. Yankton will then play two games on Sunday, Rapid City Post 22 at 11:30 a.m. and Rochester (Minnesota) Redhawks at 2 p.m.

North St. Paul 6, Yankton 4

North St. Paul, the host team, overcame an early 2-0 deficit to beat Yankton Post 12 by a 6-4 score on Friday morning in the opening game of the Gopher Classic.

Michael Drotzmann doubled twice, singled and drove in two runs for Yankton, while Caid Koletzky and Bailey Sage both doubled and singled. Ethan Wishon added a single.

Drotzmann pitched all six innings, with four strikeouts.

Ham Lake/Blaine 7, Yankton 3

Yankton Post 12 took a 3-1 lead into the top of the seventh inning, but Ham Lake/Blaine (Minnesota) rallied with a six-run frame to capture a 7-3 victory Friday afternoon at the Gopher Classic.

Bailey Sage doubled twice and drove in three runs for Yankton, while Sam Mooney doubled and singled, and Ethan Wishon and Rex Ryken both had one hit.

Wishon pitched into the seventh inning but was tagged with the loss.

Nebraska Juniors C1

Crofton 10, Ponca 9

PIERCE, Neb. — Top-seeded Crofton edged Ponca 10-9 in the first round Friday of the Nebraska Area C1 American Legion Juniors baseball tournament in Pierce.

Austin Tramp was the winning pitcher, while Zach Fernau took the loss for Ponca.

Ponca will Valentine in an elimination game today (Saturday) at 1 p.m., while Crofton will face Creighton at 4 p.m.

Battle Creek 9, Creighton 1

PIERCE, Neb. — Battle Creek scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull away from Creighton in a 9-1 victory Friday afternoon at the Nebraska Area C1 American Legion Juniors baseball tournament in Pierce.

Kaleb Kummer got the win and Alex Homan took the loss.

Battle Creek will play Pierce tonight (Saturday) at 7 p.m.

Pierce 9, Valentine 1

PIERCE, Neb. — Pierce, the host team, scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 9-1 victory over Valentine on Friday evening at the Nebraska Area C1 American Legion Juniors baseball tournament in Pierce.

Logan Moeller got the win and Bryson Limbach was tagged with the loss.
