CROFTON, Neb. — The Boone Central-Newman Grove girls and Pierce boys took home top honors from the Mid-State Conference cross country meet, held at the Weigand area near Lewis & Clark Lake on Thursday.

Led by medalist Jordan Stopak (19:05.93), Boone Central-Newman Grove scored 25 points, beating out Battle Creek (33) and Wayne (37). Pierce’s Alexus Sindelar was second individually, finishing the 5,000-meter race in 19:14.83. Morgann Johnson (19:48.59) of BC-NG was third.

The Pierce boys, led by medalist Mason Sindelar (15:50.81), scored 27 points to beat out O’Neill (32) and Norfolk Catholic (37). Crofton’s Connor Arens (17:05.13) was second individually, followed by O’Neill’s Brady Thompson (17:27.82).

NEAR BLOOMFIELD, Neb. — The Bloomfield-Wausa girls and Hartington-Newcastle boys claimed top honors in the Bloomfield Invitational/Lewis & Clark Conference cross country meet, held Wednesday at Rolling Hills Golf Course near Bloomfield.

The Bloomfield-Wausa girls edged Hartington-Newcastle with a 17 to 20 margin in both the overall and Lewis & Clark Conference races. Norfolk Reserves (52) were third overall, with Osmond (51) third in the Lewis & Clark standings.

Hartington-Newcastle’s Sara Reifenrath won the 5,000-meter even in 20:42, edging out Bloomfield-Wausa’s Christina Martington (20:45). Lutheran High Northeast’s Alison Stineman (21:13) was third, followed by Bloomfield-Wausa’s Darla Nelson (21:48) and Hartington-Newcastle’s Sara Burbach (22:16).

Hartington-Newcastle scored a one-point victory over Osmond in the L&C and overall races, each by 20 to 21 margins. Plainview (57 overall, 56 L&C) was third in both standings.

Hartington-Newcastle’s Carson Noecker (16:53) and Brayden Kathol (18:10) finished 1-2 in the event, followed by Osmond’s Mason Bykerk (18:13), Bloomfield-Wausa’s Addison Smith (18:15) and Osmond’s Johnson Chishiba (18:31).

PARKER — The Beresford Watchdogs swept team honors at the Big East Conference cross country meet, held Wednesday at Par-Mar Golf Course.

Beresford edged Flandreau 24 to 27 for the boys’ title. Flandreau’s David Allen won the 5,000-meter event in 16:27.20, beating out Beresford’s Andrew Atwood (16:42.25) and Garretson’s Preston Bohl (16:52.41).

The Watchdogs edged Garretson 27 to 32 for the girls’ title. Baltic’s Anna Wilkinson finished the 5,000-meter course in 18:49.48, beating out Beresford’s Anna Atwood (19:30.43) and Garretson’s MaKayla Heesch (19:34.85).
