VERMILLION --- The South Dakota Shakespeare Festival (SDSF) seeks non-Equity performers for its fourth outdoor season of free Shakespeare in Vermillion’s Prentis Park, featuring Shakespeare’s Romance “The Winter’s Tale.”

The Festival seeks professional actors, actor/musicians, and teaching artists from the Great Plains region and nationally to form an ensemble-based Shakespeare company for a four-week contract in Vermillion. All positions are paid. Actors coming from out of town will be eligible for local housing and a travel stipend.

The SDSF is also seeking children from the local community for unpaid apprenticeship positions in the acting company.

Local auditions will be held Sunday, Feb. 7, from noon-3 p.m. at Warren M. Lee Center for Fine Arts on the University of South Dakota campus, in Vermillion. Callbacks will take place that evening from 6-10 p.m.

Rehearsals for “The Winter’s Tale” run from May 16-June 8. The production is set for June 9-12 at Prentis Park in Vermillion.

To sign up for an audition appointment on the callboard at USD Theatre, call (605) 622-0423 or e-mail to schedule an appointment. Prepare one or two contrasting Shakespeare monologues, and bring a photo and resume.
