GEDDES — Geddes Historic District invites the public to the annual celebration of local notable Peter Norbeck at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the American Legion Hall in Geddes.

Laura Hovey Neubert, South Dakota Humanities Council Touring Speaker, will present the program, Peter Norbeck-from the prairie to the mountains, reviewing the remarkable career of Norbeck. Neubert will reflect on the political career, accomplishments and times of Norbeck’s statesmanship while documenting his impact, yesterday and today, on South Dakota, the Northern Great Plains and national scene. Her program will be supplemented with comments from relatives of the Norbeck family yet in this area.

Laura Hovey Neubert, MS, CESP, serves as Secretary-Treasurer for the West River History Conference. She is a produced playwright, award-winning poet and writer from Rapid City. This program is supported by a grant from the South Dakota Humanities Council.
