The Boys & Girls Club of Yankton will be hosting a new annual fundraiser entitled, “Rhythm & Brews.” The event will be held at Minerva’s Bar and Grill on Friday, Aug. 23, from 7-10 p.m.

Special Events and Marketing Coordinator Julia Larson stated, “Seeing that the popularity of craft beer is on the rise in the Midwest, our Special Event committee decided on having a craft beer tasting event. They thought it would be unique and interesting for the community as well as a good fundraiser for the club.”

The event will have craft beer tasting, delicious hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, high stakes games, Club Mission Moments and live music by the Lewis and Clark Jazz Quintet led by local musician Scott Olson.

Sheila Woodward, a member of the Special Events committee, stated, “We are very excited to be having quality brews from New Belgium, Boulevard, Goose Island and Grand Teton at the event. Craft beer is different than macro brews because of the attention it gives to ingredients and small quantity during brewing. This is going to be a great new event for the city of Yankton.”

They are also having a V.I.P. session which includes a 5 course meal paired with specialty brews. There will be a beer expert to explain the different brews, how they are made and why they pair well with certain foods.

All proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Club of Yankton whose mission is “to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.” They focus on three priority outcomes, Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles and Good Character & Leadership for more information visit, www.greatfuturessd.org.
