The Bede Art Gallery, on the campus of Mount Marty College (MMC) in Yankton announces its exhibit schedule for the 2019-20 academic year.

This year the gallery will feature the work of several area artists and will also include two student exhibits and several gallery talks on the topics of oil pastels, pencil drawings, Lithographic, etchings, paintings, clay sculptures and photography.  

The first show of the season is entitled “Association of Benedictine Colleges and Universities” and will feature fine art inspired by St. Benedict. This collection will be on display from June 3 until July 26.

From July 29 to Sept. 25, Lynda Ackland-Kolb and John Kolb will share their exhibit, “Two Surfaces.” The collection is made up of acrylic paintings and soft pastels on waxed surfaces. A reception and gallery talk will be held on Sept. 25 from 2-4 p.m.

Jacob Van Wyk’s “Apocalyptic Vision” exhibit will open on Sept. 30, 2019. The collection of oil pastels, pencil drawings, lithographics, etchings, paintings and clay sculptures will be housed in Bede 114 with an opening reception on Oct. 1 from 2-4 p.m. and an artwork workshop from 8-9 a.m. A closing reception will be held on Nov. 25 from 2-4 p.m.

The MMC Student Show will run from Dec. 2-20, 2019.

“Genres” will kick off the spring season, opening on Jan. 13, 2020. The exhibit presented by Caiti Ziegenbein will feature graphics, drawings, and pastels and will run through Jan. 29. A reception and gallery talk will be held on Jan. 29 from 2-4 p.m.

Rich Lofthus presents “Lancers Through My Lens” starting Feb. 3. This exhibit of digital color photography will be on display through Feb. 26 and include a reception and gallery talk on Feb. 5 from 2-4 p.m.

The final artist’s exhibit of the year will be “Recent Work” featuring the oils of Michael Lavelle. The exhibition will open March 2, 2020, and will close on March 25 with a reception and gallery talk from 2-4 p.m.

The year-end Student Show will run from March 26-April 17, 2020.

All exhibits at the Bede Art Gallery are free and open to the public Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The gallery is located at 1105 W. Eighth St. in Yankton, on MMC’s campus, just off of the Marian Auditorium lobby.
