For 36 years, Riverboat Days has relied on the generosity and hard of work of its board members, volunteers and sponsors. We are lucky to have such amazing people be a part of our event!

As we work all year on this event, I am still surprised by the huge number of people who say yes immediately and will help in any way that they can. I think that is why board members tend to stay so long … it requires a lot of work and dedication, but living in the event and seeing it all come together makes you feel proud to be a part of it. We hope that all of our volunteers and sponsors feel the same way. Riverboat Days is successful because of all of us!

With Riverboat Days one month away, we always like to remind everyone of some of the highlights to look forward to. The Riverboat Days parade will be Saturday, Aug. 17, at 9:30 a.m. The parade route is the same as in past years. Our parade committee is amazing and we know it! Thank you, Wayne & Jolene Williamson and the rest of the gang, for making this huge event look easy!

Yankton Area Arts has spent months preparing for this year’s art festival. Artisans will open up their booths on Friday at 6 p.m. and will continue to sell their items Saturday and Sunday.

Jake Hoffner has been busy organizing our Children’s Tent and finding free activities for children to take part in Saturday 1-5 p.m. and Sunday 1-4 p.m.

The Yankton Rodeo Association is busy organizing their big event which takes place Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the same location as last year, behind the Yankton Chamber of Commerce building.

One new event is the Dialed Action Sports BMX Show! You can always tell when one of these events is about to start by seeing the crowd form around the main parking lot! As always, the best place to get information is our website, www.riverboatdays.com. Our printed schedule will be out in August, but you can find the schedule on our website and start planning your weekend now.

On behalf of our Board of Directors: Randy Oliver (Co-chair), John Kraft (Co-chair), Michele Termansen, Donna Madson, Justin Brunick, Mike Byrkeland , Rick Stone, Robert Byrkeland, Milissa Wuebben, Jake Hoffner, Mike Villanueva, Dave Wright, and myself we hope you make plans to attend Riverboat Days 2019, Aug. 16-18.
