Market at the Meridian is moving to an indoor location due to the forecast of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday. The Old Mill, 106 Capital, Yankton, is the site where Connecting Cultures and the Market will celebrate a joint event, Feria Multicultural (Multicultural Fair), from 9 a.m.-noon.

Piñatas will be available for the children. Mexican Loteria (Bingo), Salsa dancing and samples of food products: coffee, hot chocolate, sweetbreads, tamales, pozole (soup with hominy), flan and more will be offered. A taste of Cuba, Mexico and Guatemala will be available.

Pleasing sounds will come from Dakota Musical who will play a mix of Latino tunes and music from other cultures.

Regular “Market at the Meridian” vendors will be there as well.

“Our vendors represent the area’s traditional cultural diversity fairly well,” Coordinator for the Market Veronica Trezona said, “but new people from the Far East, Africa, Cuba, Central and South America are coming to South Dakota now. Their cultures and their foods enrich our lives.”
