There is an old proverb that states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” How true this foundation holds as we look at any sustaining mechanisms within our community. It is the investment in our children that holds our culture and emulates an atmosphere of success for all of our residents, our families.

As we are faced with an opportunity to choose that path, enhanced with recent state budgetary concerns, we should all welcome the occurrence to continue to invest in one of the best school districts in South Dakota. This is a direct reflection of our community today and of the future. Frederick Douglas stated in 1855 that “it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

We support the ‘Yes4YSD’ initiative. This aligns with another proverb, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Let’s come together again and do what’s right for our community.

It takes good parents and fiscal reponsability to raise good children. Relying on a village is very risky.
