Exxon is wrapping up a huge oil deal in Iraq, over $60 billion but more likely later. Who knows how much Halliburton has made from Iraq? Remember Dick Cheney was CEO of Halliburton, the world’s largest oil field service company. Remember Trump’s Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, was firstly CEO of Exxon. Our Spear of Destiny has become Middle East oil. How far can this go and how much rhetoric about fighting for American freedom must we swallow when this is really finding pretense to seize oil fields for corporate profit? Remember thousands of American soldiers died fighting in Iraq with an estimated 2 to 3 million Iraqis missing. None of this adds up in a good way.
Then there is Iran. Trump quickly dropped out of the Iran nuclear deal claiming non-compliance. Funny thing, all of the European allies stated there was compliance. If we didn’t know better, we might think this was a pretense to pick a fight to start the process for a new war and a new invasion. A new war meaning new US casualties, more hatred of Americans in this region and more refugees that no one will accept. You know what? We need to back the heck off and give it a rest.
Those of us who pay taxes spend about 60 cents of every tax dollar for our military with hundreds of bases around the world. Is this so that we can send our young soldiers to die where no American freedoms are threatened but so that corporations who pay no taxes can make more money? WTF?
It’s time to crank this back several notches. Being pro-business is not being pro-stupid. We need to set a new course.
