During the past two years, Horizon has helped over 400 children, ages 0-5, with oral health care by providing a FREE exam, cleaning, and fluoride treatment through their Smiles For Miles program. Did you know cavities are one of the most common childhood diseases? Over 40% of children have cavities by the time they reach Kindergarten.

On Dec. 3, which coincides with the second annual South Dakota Gives Day/Giving Tuesday, the Horizon Health Foundation will aim to raise $20,000 across the state to support this program. Delta Dental of South Dakota is partnering with the foundation to match all gifts, dollar for dollar up to $5,000 on SD Gives Day.

By giving locally, we can do our part in helping our children keep their healthy smiles in our community! You can make a difference in a child’s life by joining us to make a gift to support local kids. You can join the toothbrush club with a gift of $8 or more or you can sponsor a child for $250.

The Horizon Health Foundation has also partnered with Dude Dad (Taylor Calmus) a Los Angeles based actor/comedian who grew up in Howard  on a film project for the Smiles for Miles campaign. This video will be released on Dec. 3 on Facebook. Taylor started Dude Dad two weeks before his son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. In addition to Dude Dad, Taylor has been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and has regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Please “Like” the Horizon Health Foundation on Facebook to watch Dude Dad as Robin and the Sioux Falls Batman star in a hilarious video to fight off Dr. Cavities at www.facebook.com/horizonhealthfoundation.
