Imagine a climate changing event where the air is so bad people can’t breathe. Imagine extremely hot summer and bitterly cold winter. Imagine shortened growing cycles and famine. Imagine horrible droughts and deluges that wipe out whole communities. That is climate change.
But humans didn’t do that.
The incident up above was Mother Nature’s doing in 1783: The eruption of Mt. Laki in Iceland. It wiped out 25% of Iceland’s population and nearly all livestock. In Europe, the resulting famine ... well that volcano caused starvation and the 99% in France didn’t like starving and went after the #oppressivemalepatriarchy.
Globally, the sun was covered by a haze for over a year. So much poison gas was in the air that monsoon cycles were interrupted and altered. Egypt experienced horrible famine and lost 1/5th of its population. The rain poisoned fertile soil around the globe. The Mississippi froze nearly all the way to the ocean, etc. etc. The amount of sulfur dioxide, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide makes what we humans have generated in the last 100 years seem like a drop in a bucket.
Ever since God kicked out Adam and Eve from Eden, this planet has been cursed. Nature is aggressive and emotionless. It’s hubris to think we could do any real harm to it. And it’s hubris to think a Mt. Laki can’t happen in your lifetime.
So prepare for a real Mt. Laki event. Not Florida becoming some kind of Neo-Atlantis.
