Like Donald Trump, Kristi Noem is dangerous —  not just to South Dakota, but to America.

Inspired by Trump’s successful exploitation of demagoguery to achieve and wield power, Gov. Noem travels the nation as an unmasked surrogate, promoting the president’s lie of a stolen election—and her fantasy that she might one day succeed him.

Meanwhile, she has failed to confront the COVID crisis with policy and by example, and 1,600 of our neighbors and loved ones have died.

On Jan. 6, Trump sent a violent mob to attack Congress and prevent confirmation of the American people’s vote. He told his “warriors” that our nation’s Capitol harbored “enemies of the people,” and they should stop “fighting like a boxer with his hands tied behind his back.” Off marched the mob — the Proud Boys, QAnon, Boogaloos and other white supremacists, domestic terrorists and thugs to break windows, attack and kill Capitol police and trash the Temple of Democracy.

Noem propagandizes on Parler, a social media site favored by right-wing extremists who promoted and coordinated the violent siege of the Capitol. Even after the seat of democracy was desecrated and trashed by the Trump-inspired mob, 147 Republicans refused to confirm the American people’s vote. But don’t expect condemnation from Noem.

Throughout the Trump era, Republicans have faced three choices: look the other way (the frequent choice of Sens. Thune and Rounds), stand for truth or stand with Trump. Noem long ago cast her lot with the Liar-in-Chief. Trump has defiled our sacred Constitution, threatened elected officials who refused to support his lies and incited an attempted coup. He has inflicted lasting damage to our democracy — with the help of Kristi Noem.

Trump needs to go now, and Noem should follow soon. In the meantime, she owes an apology, not just to South Dakota, but to America.

Jerry,

I am sorry that you are stuck on the negative spin cycle of life. There's your apology.

Old Hugh

South Dakotans “knew he was a snake when we picked him up.” Yet we voted overwhelmingly for him. Twice. Some of us thought he might make our lives better. But we got a raging pandemic and a collapsed economy instead.

Yet at least we could relish how thoroughly he “Owned the Libs.”

But now Trump owns us. And the rest of the planet knows we elected the most corrupt and venal president in American history.

The revelations of the coming months and years will drive home this historic truth - even if we can’t quite bring ourselves to admit it.

Many will deny this to the end. Like the seditious fools who attacked the Capitol believing - in the absence of even a shred of evidence - that our President was cheated out of his rightful victory.

This is the shameful legacy we’ll never be able to explain to our grandchildren when they discover that old MAGA hat in the attic.

Roscoe

There is no reason to blame ANY one person for the coronavirus. Unless you have proof otherwise.

I am interested in why you believe President Trump 'owns' us. I must be missing something.

The media showed that there were others, along with supporters, that 'attacked' the Capitol. Let's put the whole truth out there. That's the biggest problem, no one tells the truth.

ClownsRus

There you are, DLJohnson!

I remember your ridiculing everyone who was against Trump and gloating about how they would fall apart after Trump won a second term. Do you remember? Like I promised, at the time - I do.

You used some metaphor about “the Wicked Witch of the West.” I don’t remember exactly. Do you?

So how are you doing? Are you one of those folks who attacked the Congress because they think your man got cheated?

DLJohnson

No Clown, not the criminal type and don't support the alt right. However also don't believe in the liberal democrat front or the career politicians of the Washington swamp.

Pelosi- the Wicked Witch of the West. Every time her mug appears in the media it reminds of of Miss Gulch peddling her bike, (spewing B.S.), taking Toto away of soaring on her broom above the Emerald City, (you know that fantasy land called Congress).

It is kind of funny that the Democrats are now in favor of a "Boarder Wall". Only now it is around the Capitol to keep them penned in and the people out. Or would it be more appropriate to see it as a fence around a zoo protecting the people from the dangerous animals within? And now they like guns and like the police and no longer want to de-fund them.

Got me on the the Democrats falling apart if Trump won a second term. But, their latest conduct seems to indicate they are going to implode on their own. I think that I will just make some popcorn and see how the comedy/tragedy of the next 4 years unfolds.

YanktonCitizen2

I think you mean “Border Wall.”

Mr. T

Welcome to this feed, Roscoe. I’m sure Kristi appreciates your letting her off the hook. And you’re definitely correct when you declare that “There is no reason to blame ANY one person for the coronavirus.”

But your president knew in February - before anyone else - that this airborne pandemic was deadly. Yet he told us in his recorded words that he chose to “down play it,” and he fought the scientists to keep the truth from us. And he ridiculed mask wearing, just like Noem.

And that is why we already have as many dead South Dakotans as died in World War II, Korea and Vietnam combined. And this is why we have more coronavirus deaths than any other nation on this planet.

So no, this is not because of any ONE person. This is thanks to Trump, Kristi and all the other science deniers who support this president.

Roscoe

Mr. T

I have let no one 'off the hook'. I only ask a few questions at a time. That way, I usually get more through, and calmer answers. If your president knew about the corona virus, than so did a lot more politicians. You can trust NO politician. You can only hope for the best. This virus isn't the worst thing to hit this country. Not even close. Cancer, heart disease, etc. Heart disease kills 655,000 every year in the US. That number comes from cdc.gov. I am not downplaying the importance of vaccines for illnesses, but we have more of our citizens dying from issues that have been around a lot longer. Once again, I don't trust any politician, so I am not defending Donald Trump. Is there proof of where the virus came from?

Old Hugh

Trump owns us when you believe his lies.

But be assured that the truth about the deadly attack on our Nation's Capital will come out in the coming weeks. An investigation at least as big as the one that followed 911 is already underway.

The U.S. attorney's office in D.C. is working with the FBI, the Capitol Police, ATF, the U.S. Marshals Service and the D.C. Metro Police. Add to that our Military and an alphabet soup of other Federal and local agencies. The true perpetrators will be found. (Spoiler alert: It won’t be BLM or Antifa.)

Of course you may have to turn off FoxNews and Rush Limbaugh from time to time and spend a few minutes on other news feeds if you want to learn about their findings.

Roscoe

I do not believe any politician. I am not sure any of them can tell the truth. I have no problem with any investigation about what happened at the Capitol. It should be looked in to. Just as all the riots and looting that happened in 2020. They are all illegal, and should've been dealt with in a timely manner. You couldn't be more wrong, if you think that I watch the news to listen to more lies about what is happening on our soil.

Mr. T

Roscoe, I’m not sure how important it is knowing “where the virus came from.” Probably from China. But the real issue is that Trump, by his own admission, knew exactly how deadly it was before anyone else. And he did nothing about it. Instead he denied it.

Whether other politicians knew when he did is doubtful. But even if they did, only the President had the ability to mount an immediate campaign against this deadly threat. Trump was missing in action, and consequently hundreds of thousands of Americans have died needlessly.

Finally, if you “do not believe any politician,” and you don’t watch the news to find out “what is happening on our soil,” how do you form these strong opinions that you're sharing with us?

Mr. T

I seriously doubt the any president, or politician knew how 'deadly' the virus was without a medical professional informing them. So, whoever was researching this, knew everything before the president, and other politicians did. Sadly, this probably means it was leaked out to other medical professionals too.

I do not have to sit and watch tv to form an opinion. I try not to get too involved, as I am a common person, not a politician. But, I can still have an opinion, as everyone does. I see it and hear it everywhere.

As for the deaths, no one is happy about them. The only guarantee we have in live, is death. As for concern for the importance of the virus, I am not concerned. When it's your time, it's your time. 655,000 people die every year in the USA from heart disease. There is no cure for that. There is no cure for cancer. Why is the corona virus so important? If you ask the farmers, there is something to take for the virus. They give it to their cattle. Seems like that would've been a good place to start. That would cost approximately one dollar per person. If this works, why not use it? Big money talks.

ClownsRus

I agree with you, DLJohnson. It WILL be interesting watching to see if the Democrats “are going to implode on their own.”

But don’t you think that with Trumpsters attacking Republicans (just ask Mike Pence), it’s also possible that the GOP is “going to implode on their own”?

Think I’ll make some 🍿 popcorn 🍿 too, and check in with you after the midterms.

The fun is just starting.
