William Schurtz, 91, peacefully entered into rest on Monday, February 18, 2019.
William was born on January 10, 1928 in Yankton, South Dakota, and then lovingly adopted by the late Fred Schurtz and Jennie Fisher Schurtz. He attended Yankton High School until he turned the age of 18, when he proudly volunteered to serve his country in the United States Army. He honorably fought during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. William retired from the U.S. Army after 30 impressive years of service. After his military career, William served another 30 years working in Civil Service Human Resources Personnel. His favorite pastimes included bowling and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.
His memory will forever be treasured by his sons, Danny Schurtz of Cumming, Georgia and Murray Schurtz of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandsons, Brendan “B.J.” Schurtz and Chris Schurtz; and sister Evelyn Timm of Yankton, South Dakota.
