LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Lincoln police officer has been suspended after being cited on suspicion of drunken driving and assault.

Officer Austin Espinoza is on unpaid suspension following an early Sunday morning incident in the parking lot of a Lincoln bar, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.

Officers were called to the lot around 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of an assault, police said. Investigators believe Espinoza was seated in his vehicle when he began arguing with two acquaintances, a man and a woman. Espinoza reported being assaulted by the man, and the woman reported being assaulted by Espinoza. Both the woman and Espinoza reported minor injuries, neither of which required medical attention.

Officers who questioned Espinoza suspected he had been drinking, and police say a breath test showed he had a blood alcohol content of .112%. The legal limit to drive is .08%.
