Local professional membership group, Interchange, Inc., will celebrate the 35th anniversary of its founding by holding an event with keynote speaker, Anne Abernathy, titled “Step Up, Not Back: Embracing Challenges.” The event is open to the public and will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at Minervas Grill and Bar in Yankton.

Tickets are available at KYNT (202 W. 2nd St) in Yankton or online at interchange35.eventbrite.com.

A Winter Olympian from the U.S. Virgin Islands, competing in the luge? Anne Abernathy not only had to train as an athlete, but build a winter sports program from the ground up against all odds. Now she is embarking on a new quest, to be the only female athlete to ever participate in a combined seven Olympic games. This time, Anne is changing sports — from luge to archery and when she competes in 2020, she’ll be 67 years old.

At the 35th anniversary event, Abernathy will share the life lessons and business principles learned as she traveled her Olympic journey straight into the record books
