On Jan. 14, 2019, John Jorgensen started the Prostate Cancer Support Group. Not knowing if anyone would attend, he said he was pleasantly surprised that there were six people who showed up, all sharing their walk with prostate cancer. Since then, the group has met regularly on the second Monday of each month at Toby’s in Meckling with an attendance ranging from 4-8 men.

Now on its first anniversary, the group has decided to change venue. Beginning on Jan. 13, 2020, they will meet at Pizza Ranch, 1501 Broadway in Yankton, at 6 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. If you have prostate cancer or prostate health concerns and want to visit with other men with this same affliction, you are invited to attend for a meal and conversation.

As one of the group’s members said recently, “It’s so nice to know I am not alone.” This reflects the group’s motto, “Walk the path with others, YOU are not alone!”
