Face To Façade

Workers began recently replacing part of the façade on the Yankton Village Mall. Crews from Shields & Associates of Arkansas are tearing out part of the frontage and refurbishing the units so that the stores can be accessed from the outside. Yankton Community & Economic Development Director Dave Mingo told the Press & Dakotan that parts of the façade are being removed in accordance with plans laid out to the City Commission a couple of years ago. “It’s a private project — so as a city, we have no control over it — but we’re happy there was a private-public relationship that created a way that we could improve a privately owned property sooner rather than later,” Mingo said. He added that the long-term goal is to create some out-lot space as well, but this is not part of the current project.
