Monday Mishaps

The Yankton County Sheriff’s Department and emergency responders were busy with two traffic accidents late Monday. SHOWN: At approximately 4 p.m., a one-vehicle rollover occurred on 309th St. (Old Highway 50) near the intersection with 447th Ave. An eastbound pickup went out of control when it hit ice on a shaded portion of the roadway. The driver, a 16-year-old male, was ejected and the vehicle rolled on top of him. Members of the public reportedly pushed the truck over and extracted the male, who sustained unknown injuries. Later, the South Dakota Highway Patrol was called in for a two-vehicle accident in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 near the James River bridge. One vehicle was turning north when it was hit from behind by another vehicle at about 5:15 p.m. No serious injuries were reported.
