Honoring Direct Support Professionals

Yankton Mayor Nathan Johnson was on hand at Yankton’s Ability Building Services to praise workers as part of Direct Support Professionals (DSP) Recognition Week in South Dakota. The weeklong celebration honors the dedication and accomplishments of DSPs and their contribution to communities across the nation. DSPs assist people who need support, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Locally, Ability Building Services employs 90 fulltime and 19 part-time DSPs who work at 10 locations and provide support to 135 people around the clock, 365 days a year. Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week is Sept. 8-14.
